Kosířské lomy (literally "Kosíř quarries") is a Protected areas of the Czech Republic#National nature monument, national nature monument in the Olomouc Region of the Czech Republic. Location The monument is made up of four separate areas. There were three separate nature monuments (Státní lom, Růžičkův lom and Vápenice) until 2017. The area is administered by the Nature and Landscape Protection Agency of the Czech Republic. The former area of Vápenice, located in Slatinky, is the largest part of Kosířské lomy. Two parts are located in Čelechovice na Hané. Kosířské lomy lies within the Velký Kosíř nature park. Description Bedrock of Kosířské lomy consists of Devonian Dolomite (rock), dolomites and the Lažánky limestone, which are partly covered by Badenian (mid-Miocene) calcareous clays and sands. Slatinky
Slatinky is a municipality and village in Prostějov District in the Olomouc Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 600 inhabitants. Geography Slatinky is located about north of Prostějov and southwest of Olomouc. It lies on the border between the Upper Morava Valley and Zábřeh Highlands. The highest point of the municipality and the whole Haná region is the hill Velký Kosíř at above sea level. The Kosířské lomy National Nature Monument extends into the southern part of the municipal territory. History The first written mention of Slatinky is from 1247. Until the establishment of an independent municipality in 1848, the village belonged mostly to the Plumlov and Chudobín estates and to the St. Catherine Monastery in Olomouc. Demographics Transport The railway line Prostějov– Červenka passes through the eastern part of the municipality, but there is no train station.
