Kostas Papageorgiou (footballer, Born 1941)
Kostas Papageorgiou ( el, Κώστας Παπαγεωργίου; born 1 January 1941) is a Greek former professional footballer who played as striker. Club career Papageorgiou started his football career in 1956, at the age of 15, when following the footsteps of his father, he enrolled in the infrastructure departments of Panathinaikos. He immediately attracted the attention and interest of the then coach, Svetislav Glišović, who recognized his talent at a sight. As a member of the reserve teams of the "greens" he performed excellently, playing as striker and scoring massively. After the first year of staying in the 3rd team, he was promoted for the next two years to the 2nd team and under János Zsolnai, he was promoted to the first team. He competed in three friendly matches against Wiener, Fostiras and Egaleo, leaving excellent impressions with his performances. Kostas Papageorgiou ( el, Κώστας Παπαγεωργίου; 1945 – 3 May 2021 in Athens) was an acclaimed Greek poet and critic. Peristeri (Greek: Περιστέρι, meaning "pigeon/dove" in Greek) is a suburban municipality in the western part of the Athens agglomeration, Greece. The Greek Football Cup ( el, Κύπελλο Ελλάδος Ποδοσφαίρου), commonly known as the Greek Cup or Kypello Elladas is a Greek football competition, run by the Hellenic Football Federation. The Balkans Cup was an international football competition for clubs from Albania, Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, Turkey, and Yugoslavia. It was introduced in 1961 and was very popular in the 1960s (the 1967 final attracted 42,000 spectators), being the second most important international club competition for clubs from the region (after the European Champions' Cup in which the champions could play; the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup originally attracted few teams from the region as many did not organise domestic cups regularly and only Yugoslavia had significant representation in the Fairs Cup). The competition has been dominated by Bulgaria-based teams. The Bulgarian teams have won together a total number of 9 titles. FK Vardar Skopje ( mk, ФК Вардар Скопје), or simply Vardar, is a football club based in the capital city of Skopje, North Macedonia.
