Končar-class Missile Boat
The ''Končar'' class is a class of six missile boats built for the Yugoslav Navy during the late 1970s at Kraljevica Shipyard, Tito's Shipyard Kraljevica, Socialist Republic of Croatia, SR Croatia. The boats featured a mixture of Western and Eastern European equipment, including Soviet anti-ship missiles and Sweden, Swedish guns. During the Croatian War of Independence one ship, ''Vlado Ćetković'', was captured by Croatian forces while being overhauled. It was eventually commissioned with the Croatian Navy as ''Croatian missile boat Šibenik, Šibenik'' and is still in use. The remaining five ships were relocated to Montenegro, entering service with the new FR Yugoslav Navy, with three of them being decommissioned in the early 2000s. The last two ships of the class are planned to be modified as patrol boats for service with the Montenegrin Navy. Croatian Missile Boat Šibenik
''Šibenik'' (pennant number RTOP-21) is a missile boat in service with the Croatian Navy. It was built for the Yugoslav Navy at the Kraljevica Shipyard in the 1970s as ''Vlado Ćetković'' (RTOP-402).Wertheim (2007), p. 145. In 1991 during the early stages of the Croatian War of Independence it was captured by Croatian forces while being overhauled at the "Velimir Škorpik" shipyard in Šibenik. Croatian Navy
The Croatian Navy (HRM; ) is the naval force branch of the Croatian Armed Forces. It was formed in 1991 from what Croatian forces managed to capture from the Yugoslav Navy during the breakup of Yugoslavia and Croatian War of Independence. In addition to mobile coastal missile launchers, today it operates 30 vessels, divided into the Navy Flotilla for traditional naval duties, and the Croatian Coast Guard. Jordan Nikolov Orce
Jordan Nikolov (7 January 1916 in Skopje, occupied by the Kingdom of Bulgaria – 4 January 1942, Kukavica, annexed by the Kingdom of Bulgaria) was a Macedonian communist and partisan from Macedonia. His life and work are connected with the organizing and firming of the syndicalist movement in Yugoslavia. Under his leadership in today North Macedonia, the first protests were undertaken, and the workers succeed for the first time to conclude collective contracts with the employers. In August 1940 Orce Nikolov was arrested on account of the break-up of the 1st of May proclamation of Central Committee of CPY, and the organizing of the Ilinden uprising celebration in then Vardar Banovina. Ramiz Sadiku ( ; ; 19 January 1915 – 10 April 1943) was an Albanian law student and one of the organizers of the anti-fascist uprising in Kosovo.''Narodni heroji Jugoslavije''. Belgrade: Mladost, 1975 He was posthumously awarded the Order of the People's Hero. Early life Sadiku was born in 1915 in Peć/Pejë into an ethnic Albanian family. He completed elementary and high school in the city and then enrolled in the University of Belgrade Faculty of Law. Even as a student in the Peć high school, he was a member of the Revolutionary Youth Organization. In 1931, he was one of the co-founders of a sports club named Future in which revolutionary youth gathered. Since the club was quickly shut down, Ramiz was arrested and spent time in prison. Rade Končar ( sr-cyr, Раде Кончар; 6 August or 28 October 1911 – 22 May 1942) was a Serbs of Croatia, Croatian Serb politician and leader of the Yugoslav Partisans in the Independent State of Croatia and Governorate of Dalmatia, Dalmatia during the early stages of World War II in Yugoslavia. He became a member of the Communist Party of Yugoslavia (KPJ) in 1934 and was arrested in 1936 when the Belgrade branch of the party was banned by Yugoslav authorities. After serving one year of hard labour in Sremska Mitrovica prison he was released and elected political secretary of the central committee of the Communist Party of Croatia (KPH) in Zagreb. Pennant Number
In the Royal Navy and other navies of Europe and the Commonwealth of Nations, ships are identified by pennant number (an internationalisation of ''pendant number'', which it was called before 1948). Historically, naval ships flew a flag that identified a flotilla or type of vessel. For example, the Royal Navy used a red burgee for torpedo boats and a pennant with an H for torpedo boat destroyers. Adding a number to the type-identifying flag uniquely identified each ship. In the current system, a letter prefix, called a ''flag superior'', identifies the type of ship, and numerical suffix, called a flag inferior, uniquely identifies an individual ship. Chaff (countermeasure)
Chaff, originally called Window or Düppel, is a radar countermeasure involving the dispersal of thin strips of aluminium, metallized glass fiber, or plastic. Dispersed chaff produces a large radar cross section intended to blind or disrupt radar systems. Modern military forces use chaff to distract active radar homing missiles from their targets. Military aircraft and warships can be equipped with chaff dispensing systems for self-defense. During its midcourse phase, an intercontinental ballistic missile may release chaff along with its other penetration aids. Contemporary radar systems can distinguish chaff from legitimate targets by measuring the Doppler effect; chaff quickly loses speed after leaving an aircraft, and the resulting shift in wavelength of the radar return can be measured.
