Kiyohide Shinjō
is a nine-time All-Okinawa ''kata'' and ''kumite'' champion, and a 10th ''dan'' in Uechi Ryū karate. One of his most memorable moments was his three second knock out with a high toe kick. His success in Okinawan karate competition earned him the nickname "Okinawa's Superman". Kiyohide Shinjo is the son and student of the Late Seiyu Shinjo. is a List of villages in Japan, village located in Kunigami District, Okinawa, Kunigami District, Okinawa Prefecture, Japan. The village lies on the island of Iejima. ''Kata'' is a Japanese word ( 型 or 形) meaning "form". It refers to a detailed choreographed pattern of martial arts movements. It can also be reviewed within groups and in unison when training. It is practiced in Japanese martial arts as a way to memorize and perfect the movements being executed. Kumite
Kumite (, literally "grappling hands") is one of the three main sections of karate training, along with kata and kihon. Kumite is the part of karate in which a person trains against an adversary. Kumite can be used to develop a particular technique or a skill (e.g. effectively judging and adjusting one's distance from one's opponent) or it can be done in competition. Types Since the word "kumite" refers to forms of sparring, it covers a vast range of activities. In traditional Shotokan karate, the first type of kumite for beginners is ''gohon kumite''. The ranking system is used by many Japanese, Okinawan, Korean, and other martial arts organizations to indicate the level of a person's ability within a given system. Used as a ranking system to quantify skill level in a specific domain, it was originally used at a Go (game), Go school during the Edo period.
