Kiss 105-108
Kiss 105-108 was an Independent Local Radio station serving East Anglia from the Kiss Network. All programming after 2010 was networked from the national station KISS. History The station was founded by the Essex Radio Group, who at the time owned a handful of local radio stations, the largest being Essex FM (now Heart East). Shortly after the group was bought by Daily Mail and in 1998 acquired by DMGT. In 2000, the Essex Radio Group concern of DMGT was purchased by the GWR Group, (now 'Global') in a joint venture with Scottish Radio Holdings (SRH). At this point in time the GWR group also acquired Galaxy 101 in Bristol (Renamed to Vibe 101) from the Chrysalis media group (now 'Global'), extending the Vibe brand to South Wales and the West. Kiss 105
Kiss 105 was a dance music radio station based in Leeds, West Yorkshire. It was part of a new breed of regional radio stations as opposed to Independent Local Radio. History The licence, covering the Yorkshire and Humberside region, was one of the biggest in the UK outside London, and it was won by Faze FM, who already operated Kiss 102 in Manchester. EMAP who owned London's Kiss 100 gave Faze permission to license the name. The station was launched by Bam Bam at 5 pm on 14 February 1997 and the first track played was 'I Like It (Lisa Marie Vocal Experience)' by Angel Moraes. Most programming came from Leeds but some specialist shows, especially at the weekend, were simulcast on both Kiss stations. Kiss is a British digital radio station owned and operated by Bauer Media Audio UK as part of the Kiss Network. Kiss broadcasts nationally to the UK via DAB digital radio, as well as on Bauer's Rayo platform. The station started in 1985 as a pirate radio station, Kiss FM, before becoming the UK's first legal black and dance music specialist radio station in 1990 as Kiss 100, broadcasting in London on 100.0 FM. Kiss became a digital-only station in 2024 when its FM frequencies in London and Bristol were taken over by Hits Radio. Kiss TV was a music video television channel owned by Channel Four Television based on the format of the Bauer Media Audio UK-owned national radio station Kiss. The channel's programming predominantly consisted of classic and mainstream hip-hop, dance, grime, EDM and R&B music videos. History The original incarnation of Kiss TV was created by Guy Wingate, who worked in EMAP's fledgling TV division with then Kiss Chief Executive and the station's original founder, Gordon 'Mac' McNamee. Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) is a digital radio international standard, standard for broadcasting digital audio radio services in many countries around the world, defined, supported, marketed and promoted by the WorldDAB organisation. The standard is dominant in Europe and is also used in Australia, and in parts of Africa and as of 2025, countries using DAB/DMB, 55 countries are actively running DAB broadcasts as an alternative platform to analogue FM. Madingley
Madingley is a small village near Cambridge, England. It is located close to the nearby villages of Coton and Dry Drayton on the western outskirts of Cambridge. The Mendlesham transmitting station is a broadcasting and telecommunications facility, situated close to the village of Mendlesham, near the town of Stowmarket, in Suffolk, United Kingdom (). It is owned and operated by Arqiva. It has a high guyed steel lattice mast. It was originally commissioned to bring ITV signals (provided by Anglia Television) to East Anglia, including Norfolk, Suffolk and parts of Essex and Cambridgeshire on 405-line VHF, using Channel 11 (Band III). Star Radio was an Independent Local Radio station broadcasting on 100.7 MHz in Cambridge, 107.1 MHz in Ely, 107.3 MHz in Saffron Walden, and 107.9 MHz in Haverhill.
