Kippa-Ring is a suburb in the City of Moreton Bay, Queensland, Australia. In the , Kippa-Ring had a population of 9,745 people. Geography Kippa-Ring is located in the centre of the Redcliffe Peninsula, by road west of Redcliffe and by road north-north-east of Brisbane, the state capital. Designated as the commercial, retail and financial centre for the Redcliffe region, Kippa-Ring houses the bulk of the commercial and retail sectors on the peninsula including the largest shopping centres. Kippa-Ring railway station is in Hindmarsh Street (). It is the terminus of the Redcliffe Peninsula railway line. History The suburb's name is a combination of the Kabi indigenous word "kippa", meaning young uninitiated man, and ring, a reference to a bora ring. Old maps referred to this bora ring as a place of reference, and long before Kippa-Ring became an official suburb, it was given to the area. Kippa-Ring Railway Station
Kippa-Ring railway station is the terminus of the Redcliffe Peninsula railway line and serves the suburb of Kippa-Ring in City of Moreton Bay, Queensland, Australia. It features a park & ride facility and local bus stops. A stabling facility, capable of holding 10 six car trains, is located to the west of the station. It opened, together with the rail line, on 4 October 2016. Following an upgrade of Kippa-Ring railway station's car park, the station now has 408 parking spaces, consisting of 396 normal parking spaces, two new family parking spaces, and ten disability parking spaces, eight are located near the grassed area at the entrance to the station, with two of the originally installed spaces still available, with the rest being replaces by the two family parking spots and seven regular parking spots. Redcliffe State High School is an independent, public, co-educational, secondary school, located in the City of Moreton Bay town of Redcliffe in Queensland, Australia. It is administered by the Department of Education. The school serves students from Year 7 to Year 12. History The school initially opened on 3 February 1958, on the eastern side of Oxley Avenue, with sporting facilities on land on the other side of side of the avenue. In order to meet growing demand, the school classrooms have since spread onto the land where the sports fields once were. Anzac Avenue is a heritage-listed major arterial road lined with trees in the City of Moreton Bay, Queensland, Australia. It runs from Petrie to Redcliffe, with most of the route signed as state route 71. The route was formerly the main route to the Redcliffe peninsula, until the Hornibrook Bridge was opened in 1935. Opened in 1925, Anzac Memorial Avenue (as it was originally named) is the longest World War I memorial avenue in Queensland and was the first bitumen motor road connecting Brisbane to the popular holiday resort of Redcliffe, and reflects the growth in car usage in the early 1920s.
