Kilcormac–Killoughey GAA
Kilcormac–Killoughey GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in Kilcormac, County Offaly, Ireland. The club fields teams in both hurling and Gaelic football. History Gaelic games have been played in the Kilcormac area since the St Cormacs club, often referred to as Frankford, was affiliated to the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1887. The Kilcormac club first joined with Killoughey in 1970 and were known collectively as Na Piarsaigh. The adult section of the Na Piarsaigh club separated in 1981 but they remained together at underage level. They rejoined at all levels in 1986 when the Kilcormac–Killoughey GAA Club was formed. Kilcormac–Killoughey had its first success four years later in 1990 when the club won the Offaly JAHC title. The club claimed an Offaly IHC title in 2006, while JAFC and IFC titles were also claimed during this period. Kilcormac–Killoughey claimed the first of three successive Offaly SHC titles in 2012. Gaelic Athletic Association
The Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA; ; CLG) is an Irish international amateur sports, amateur sporting and cultural organisation, focused primarily on promoting indigenous Gaelic games and pastimes, which include the traditional Irish sports of hurling, camogie, Gaelic football, Gaelic handball, and GAA rounders. 2014 Offaly Senior Hurling Championship
The 2014 Offaly Senior Hurling Championship was the 117th staging of the Offaly Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Offaly County Board in 1896. The championship began on 2 May 2014 and ended on 19 October 2014. Kilcormac–Killoughey were the defending champions, and successfully retained the title following a 2–18 to 1–9 defeat of St Rynagh's. Drumcullen were relegated from the championship after four years in the top flight. Teams All but one of the twelve teams from the 2013 championship participated in the top tier of Offaly hurling in 2014. Ballinamere, who defeated Kilcormac–Killoughey by 2–19 to 1–14 in the final of the intermediate championship in 2013, availed of their right to automatic promotion to the senior championship. Liam Currams
Liam Currams (born 26 January 1961) is an Irish former hurler and Gaelic footballer who played as a midfielder and left wing-back for both Offaly senior teams. His inter-county career lasted from 1980 until 1986. Currams holds a unique place in the annals of Gaelic games in Offaly as a successful dual player at the highest levels. He has won one All-Ireland medal and two Leinster medals in hurling, while has also won one All-Ireland medal and three Leinster medals in football. Currams has a number of personal achievements. He is one of only four players to have won All Stars Awards in both hurling and football. He is the only Offaly player to do so. At club level Currams played with Kilcormac–Killoughey. Dan Currams
Daniel Currams (born 1989) is an Irish hurler and Gaelic footballer who plays as a midfielder and centre-forward for the Offaly senior teams. Born in Kilcormac, County Offaly, Currams first arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of sixteen when he first linked up with the Offaly minor teams as a dual player, before later joining the under-21 hurling side. He made his senior hurling debut during the 2008 championship before later joining the football side during the 2012 championship. Since then Currams has been a regular member of the hurling team, and has won one National League (Division 2) medal. As a member of the Leinster inter-provincial team on a number of occasions, Currams has won one Railway Cup medal. At club level he is a one-time Leinster medallist with Kilcormac–Killoughey. Stephen Byrne (hurler)
Stephen Byrne (born 1977) is an Irish retired hurler who played as a goalkeeper for the Offaly senior hurling team. Byrne made his first appearance for the team during the 1998 National League and became a regular member of the starting fifteen until he left the panel after the 2003 championship. During that time he won one All-Ireland medal and one All-Star award. Byrne was an All-Ireland runner-up on one occasion. At club level Byrne played with the Kilcormac–Killoughey club. In retirement from playing Byrne became involved in team management and coaching. After spending two seasons as manager of the Offaly under-21 team he became a selector under Ollie Baker with the Offaly senior team. The ''Offaly Express'' is an online newspaper and former print newspaper in Ireland that serves County Offaly. The paper is part of the Iconic Newspapers Group. The offices of the ''Offaly Express'' are based in Portlaoise. The paper was founded in 1984. Justin Kelly is editor of the ''Offaly Express''. In June 2012, it was announced that Johnston Press Ireland were to close the ''Offaly Express'' print newspaper version with the loss of 8 jobs. The final edition was published on 5 July 2012 after 29 years. The Offaly Senior B Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the Molloy Environmental Systems Offaly Senior B Hurling Championship and abbreviated to the Offaly SBHC) is an annual hurling competition organised by the Offaly County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association from 2018 for the second tier senior hurling teams in the county of Offaly in Ireland. In its current format, the Offaly Senior B Hurling Championship begins with a group stage. The six participating teams play each other in a round-robin system. The four top-ranking teams proceed to the knockout phase that culminates with the final match at Glenisk O'Connor Park.
