Kikyo – The Return
is a 2019 Japanese jidaigeki film directed by Shigemichi Sugita and starring Tatsuya Nakadai. Premise The film is set during the Edo period, the first half of the 19th century. The lead character, an old gambler who has fallen ill, returns to his hometown after 30 years of traveling and sets out to help a young woman in dire straits. Shuhei Fujisawa
(26 December 1927 – 26 January 1997) was a Japanese author, whose real name was Tomeji Kosuge. (小菅留治). Over fifty of his books were published through the course of his lifetime, including both full-length novels and short story anthologies. The focus of his writing was historical fiction. Before he became an author, he had been a business journalist and before that a high school teacher. Published works Over 23 million of his paperbacks have been printed. His work has been adapted for both television and film. Five recent full-length films have been based on his work. Misato Tanaka
is a Japanese actress. Biography Tanaka started appearing on stage as a child. She won an award at Toho's Cinderella contest in 1996 and landed the starring role in the NHK Asadora ''Aguri ''in 1997, which significantly launched her career. NHK BS8K is a satellite television broadcasting service offered by NHK. Launched on 1 December 2018, it is the world's first television channel to broadcast in 8K resolution. Background NHK Science & Technology Research Laboratories had started to develop an 8K broadcast resolution in 1995. The format was first publicly displayed at the Expo 2005 in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, whereas the first 8K live feed broadcast were tested at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. Due to the successful tests, plans for a television channel dedicated to airing an 8K resolution were approved by the NHK. Yoshiko Mita
(born October 8, 1941) is a Japanese actress. Born in the city of Osaka, she graduated from Joshibi High School of Art and Design in Suginami, Tokyo. In 1960, she was hired by Toei and made her acting debut. She remained with Toei until 1967, then became free to appear in films, on television, and on the stage. Her performance in the film ''W's Tragedy'' (1984) earned the Japan Academy Prize for Best Supporting Actress in 1986. From 1991 to 1994, she topped Japan's official list of taxpayers in the Actors and Celebrities category. Yoshiko appears in both contemporary and ''jidaigeki'' roles. She won the award for best actress at the 30th and at the 35th Blue Ribbon Awards. With husband Yasuo Takahashi she has two sons, both actors.
