Khasavyurt
Khasavyurt is a types of inhabited localities in Russia, city in Dagestan, Russia. Population: History It was founded in 1846 and granted town status in 1931. During the Russian Empire, the settlement was the administrative capital of the Khasavyurtovsky Okrug of the Terek Oblast. In 1996, the agreement was signed in Khasavyurt between the Russian Federation and the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria following the First Chechen War, known as Khasavyurt Accord. On August 19, 2012, six police officers were killed and eight people injured at two gun and bomb attacks in the city. The town has thousands of Salafis. In December 2016, the Russian authorities reported the existence of the Khasavyurt Group, allegedly linked to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant – Caucasus Province, Islamic State and a flareup of incidents and skirmishes between the police and local militants in and around the city. Cathedral Of Our Lady Of The Sign (Khasavyurt)
The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Sign () is the largest Orthodox church in the North Caucasus, an architectural monument of the early 20th century. A bright representative of the neo-Byzantine style in architecture. Located in the city of Khasavyurt, Republic of Dagestan, Russia. The parish belongs to the Makhachkala deanery of the Diocese of Makhachkala of the Russian Orthodox Church. The cathedral is in the center of Khasavyurt on Toturbieva Street, 121. It is the architectural dominant of the city; the domes and crosses of the cathedral are far visible from the outskirts of the city. History The design of the cathedral was drawn up by civil engineer Ivan Vasilievich Ryabikin (1845-1942) in 1901. Khasavyurt Accord
The Khasavyurt Accord (, ), formally the Khasavyourt Joint Declaration and Principles for Mutual Relations, was an agreement that marked the end of the First Chechen War, signed in Khasavyurt in Dagestan on 30 August 1996 between Alexander Lebed and Aslan Maskhadov. The First Chechen War, also referred to as the First Russo-Chechen War, was a struggle for independence waged by the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria against the invading Russia, Russian Federation from 1994 to 1996. Terek Oblast
The Terek Oblast was a province (''oblast'') of the Caucasus Viceroyalty (1801–1917), Caucasus Viceroyalty of the Russian Empire, roughly corresponding to the central part of Russia's North Caucasian Federal District. Kumyks
Kumyks (, ) are a Turkic ethnic group living in Dagestan, Chechnya and North Ossetia. They are the largest Turkic people in the North Caucasus. They traditionally populate the Kumyk Plateau (northern Dagestan and northeastern Chechnya), lands bordering the Caspian Sea, areas in North Ossetia, Chechnya and along the banks of the Terek River. Saygidpasha Umakhanov
Saygidpasha Umakhanov (; born 3 April 1962, Burtunay, Kazbekovsky District) is a Russian political figure and a deputy of the 8th State Duma. Umakhanov started his political career in 1997 when he became deputy of the People's Assembly of the Republic of Dagestan. In August–September 1999, during the invasion of the republic led by militants Shamil Basayev and Ibn al-Khattab, Umakhanov led the people's militia units in Khasavyurt. From 1997 to 2015, he headed the administration of Khasavyurt. In 2015, he became the Minister of Transport, Energy and Communications of Dagestan. Avar People (Caucasus)
The Avars (), also known as Maharuls' (), are a Northeast Caucasian ethnic group. The Avars are the largest of several ethnic groups living in the Russian republic of Dagestan.
