Khalié Brahim Djadarab
Khalié Brahim Djadarab or Khalié Madeleine (born c. 1940) is a Chadian political activist. Life Djadarab was born in the early 1940s in Arada, Chad. She attended the town's first public school after it opened in 1953, and (though she later opposed the practice) underwent FGM. In 1954 her father was transferred to Abéché, where she finished he primary studies. She did not have the opportunity to attend secondary school. Aged seventeen or eighteen, her marriage was arranged to her former teacher Rakis Moll. Moll persuaded Djadarab to become a teacher. Though she felt she was not properly prepared, she set up a girls' school in Abéché. In 1966 she divorced her first husband and married the military officer Félix Malloum. They lived together for three years, but he was increasingly away from home involved in military or political campaigns. Arada () is a town and subprefecture in the department of Biltine in eastern Chad. History In early January 1987 during the Toyota War, Libyan forces bombed Arada, in retaliation for the Libyan defeat in the Battle of Fada. Because this violated the 1984 French-Libyan treaty that set zones of influence on both sides of the 16th parallel, Arada lying in the southern, French zone, France decided to intervene militarily by bombing the airbase of Ouadi Doum (similar to the 1986 air raid), destroying several Libyan aircraft and the radar station. Abéché (, ''Absha'') is a city in Chad and the capital of the Ouaddaï Region. It is one of the List of cities in Chad, largest cities in the country and has within it the remnants of the ancient capital, including palaces, mosques, and the tombs of former sultans. History The city of Abéché was made Capital (political), capital of the Wadai Sultanate in the 1890s, after the wells at Ouara, the former capital, had dried out.
