History Keyser Township had its start in 1876, when the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad constructed a railroad through the area. The Samuel Bevier House, Joseph Bowman Farmhouse, Breechbill-Davidson House, Brethren in Christ Church, Orin Clark House, DeKalb County Home and Barn, William Fountain House, Gump House, Edward Kelham House, Charles Lehmback Farmstead, Rakestraw House, and Henry Shull Farmhouse Inn were added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. Garrett is a city in Keyser Township, DeKalb County, Indiana, United States. The population was 6,286 at the 2010 census. History Garrett was platted in 1875 when the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad was extended to that point. It was named for John W. Garrett, president of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad from 1858 to 1884. Auburn is a city in DeKalb County, Indiana, United States. The population was 13,412 at the 2020 census. Founded in 1836 by Wesley Park (1811–1868), the city is the county seat of DeKalb County. Auburn is also known as ''Home of the Classics''. History Auburn's site on Cedar Creek (Indiana), Cedar Creek was chosen by Wesley Park and John Badlam Howe at the intersection of two major trails, Goshen-Defiance Road and Coldwater Road, and next to the land of John Houlton. The name for the community likely came from "The Deserted Village" by Oliver Goldsmith, that begins "Sweet Auburn! Loveliest village of the plain."
