The ''Kerrang!'' Awards 2012 were held in London, England, on 7 June 2012 at The Brewery (shopping centre), The Brewery in East London and were hosted by Slipknot (band), Slipknot singer Corey Taylor and Anthrax (American band), Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian. On 2 May 2012, ''Kerrang!'' announced the 2012 nominees. The main categories were dominated by You Me at Six with five nominations, followed by Black Veil Brides and Falling in Reverse with three apiece. The Kerrang! Awards 2012 incorporated new categories, including awards for films, video games, comedians, the hero and villain of the year. ''Kerrang!'' is a British music webzine and quarterly magazine that primarily covers rock, punk and heavy metal music. Since 2017, the magazine has been published by Wasted Talent Ltd (the same company that owns electronic music publication '' Mixmag''). The magazine was named onomatopoeically after the sound of a "guitar being struck with force". ''Kerrang!'' was first published on 6 June 1981 as a one-off "Heavy Metal Special" from the now-defunct '' Sounds'' newspaper. Due to the popularity of the issue, the magazine became a monthly publication, before transitioning into a weekly in 1987. Initially devoted to the new wave of British heavy metal and the rise of hard rock acts, ''Kerrang!'' musical emphasis has changed several times, focusing on grunge, nu metal, post-hardcore, emo and other alternative rock and metal genres over the course of its forty-year publication history. A Day to Remember is an American Rock music, rock band formed in Ocala, Florida, in 2003 by guitarist Tom Denney and drummer Bobby Scruggs. They are known for their amalgamation of metalcore and pop-punk. The band currently consists of vocalist Jeremy McKinnon, rhythm guitarist Neil Westfall, percussionist/drummer Alex Shelnutt and lead guitarist Kevin Skaff. Lostprophets
Lostprophets (stylised as lostprophets or LOSTPROPHETS) were a Welsh rock band from Pontypridd, formed in 1997 by singer Ian Watkins and guitarist Lee Gaze. The group was founded after their former band Fleshbind broke up. They later recruited Mike Lewis on guitars, Stuart Richardson on bass and Mike Chiplin on drums. Bullet for My Valentine, often abbreviated as BFMV, are a Welsh heavy metal band from Bridgend, formed in 1998. The band is currently composed of Matthew Tuck (vocals, rhythm guitar), Michael Paget (lead guitar), Jason Bowld (drums) and Jamie Mathias (bass). Former members include Michael Thomas, Jason James and Nick Crandle; the latter were on bass. They were formed under the name Jeff Killed John and started their music career by covering songs by Metallica and Nirvana. Reckless Love is a Finnish rock band formed in Kuopio in 2001. They released their debut album in 2010, which reached number 13 in the Finnish charts. Of Mice & Men (often abbreviated OM&M) is an American Rock music, rock band formed in Costa Mesa, California, in 2009. The band's line-up currently consists of drummer Valentino Arteaga, guitarists Phil Manansala and Alan Ashby, and bassist and lead vocalist Aaron Pauley. The group was founded by former lead vocalist Austin Carlile and former bassist Jaxin Hall in mid-2009 after Carlile's departure from Attack Attack! (American band), Attack Attack!. Carlile departed from the band in December 2016 citing that a long-term health condition prompted his exit.
