The Herreligaen (men's league), formerly known as Herrehåndboldligaen (men's handball league), is the men's top Danish professional handball league. The winners of the Herreligaen are recognised as the Danish men's handball champions. The current champions are Aalborg Håndbold. Season The Herreligaen season consists of 14 teams, each playing 26 regular season games. The eight best teams of the regular season advance to further games, where they are divided into two groups of four teams each. No. 1 and 2 from the regular season start with 2 points. KIF Kolding is a professional handball club based in Kolding, Denmark who competes in the Danish Handball League. KIF Kolding has won the Danish Handball League, Danish Handball Championship a record 14 times. It is a part of the broader sports association Kolding Idræts Forening. History KIF Kolding KIF Handball was formed in 1941 and quickly became a popular feature in the city. In the 1950's a sports venue specifically for handball was built. It was promoted to the Danish 1st division (the highest league at the time) in 1984 and was relegated again for 41 years.
