Kehärata
The Ring Rail Line (, ; formerly ''Marjarata'') is a railway route in the area of the city of Vantaa, in the Greater Helsinki Metropolitan Area of Finland. It connects Helsinki-Vantaa Airport and the adjacent Aviapolis business and retail district to the Helsinki commuter rail network. The line fills the gap between Vantaankoski and Tikkurila railway stations, travelling in tunnel underneath the airport. The line started operating on 1 July 2015. History The founding stone of the line was laid on 3 March 2009, and construction was started on 13 May 2009 with the excavation of service tunnels. The excavation of a 300 m long tunnel station under the airport was completed in March 2010, as the construction was proceeding on schedule. In February 2011, a video on the project's official website stated that the project would be open by June 2014. Länsimetro
Länsimetro (English: Western Metro, Swedish: Västmetron) is an extension to the Helsinki Metro system in Finland, which opened on 18 November 2017. Länsimetro extends the system's two lines, M1 and M2, from Central Helsinki to the neighbouring city of Espoo. The new stretch continues the lines from the existing Ruoholahti station via the island of Lauttasaari, the Aalto University Otaniemi campus and Tapiola, the terminus of line M2. Line M1 continues further west to Matinkylä. Unlike previous extensions to the Helsinki Metro system, Länsimetro runs entirely underground. The second phase opened on 3 December 2022 and continues the line further west to Kivenlahti, near the municipal border of Kirkkonummi. Vantaankoski Railway Station
Vantaankoski railway station (, ) is a Helsinki commuter rail station located in Vantaa, Finland. It is approximately north of the Helsinki Central railway station. The station is part of the Ring Rail Line (Kehärata) route, which links Helsinki-Vantaa Airport and central Vantaa with the Helsinki commuter train network. The station was the northbound terminus for the M commuter line from Helsinki Central railway station, central Helsinki until 2015. The next station to the south is Martinlaakso railway station, Martinlaakso, which was the northern terminus of the M line until the construction of Vantaankoski in 1991. It is one of the new stations of the Ring Rail Line (Kehärata), which opened in July 2015. Helsinki-Vantaa Airport (, ) , or simply Helsinki Airport, is the main international airport serving Helsinki, the capital of Finland, as well as its surrounding metropolitan area, and the Uusimaa region in Finland. Helsinki City Rail Loop
The Helsinki City Rail Loop ( literally translated: ''droplet railway'', ) is a planned new railway line in Helsinki, Southern Finland. It is to be a double track balloon loop in the shape of a tear drop. Helsinki commuter rail currently terminating at Helsinki Central railway station would be diverted into tunnels under the city centre. Lentorata
Lentorata (Airport Line) is a planned railway line in Finland, designed to link Helsinki Airport to the Finnish long-distance railway network and to complement the current airport connection via the Ring Rail Line. Construction of the line is not expected to start until 2030, with the line operational several years later. History Lentorata has been included in the Finnish Transport Agency's plans since 2010.
