Kave (Finnish Mythology)
Kave, Kavet, Kaave, Kaveh or Luonnotar is a female spirit or goddess in Finnish mythology. She is called "the oldest of women" (''vanhin vaimoloista''). In one White Karelian poem, a similar figure is called Ilmatar (lit. "Lady Air"), likely influencing Elias Lönnrot to create the ''Kalevala'' character Ilmatar. Kave (pl. ''kapeet'') is also a common noun used to refer to female nature spirits or goddesses in general. The same goes for luonnotar (pl. ''luonnottaret''). In runic songs In 1551, Mikael Agricola mentioned plural "kapeet" as those who "ate the moon" from pre-Christian Tavastians. The oldest written mentions of singular Kave are from the 18th century, written down by Christfrid Ganander from Ostrobothnia (historical province), Ostrobothnia. Finnish Mythology
Finnish mythology commonly refers of the folklore of Finnish paganism, of which a Finnish Neopaganism, modern revival is practiced by a small percentage of the Finnish people. It has many shared features with Estonian mythology, Estonian and other Baltic Finns, Finnic mythologies, but also with neighbouring Baltic mythology, Baltic, slavic mythology, Slavic and, to a lesser extent, Norse mythology, Norse mythologies. Finnish mythology survived within an oral tradition of mythical poem-singing and folklore well into the 19th century. Forest Finns (, Bokmål, Norwegian bokmål: ''skogfinner'', Nynorsk, Norwegian nynorsk: ''skogfinnar'', ) were Finns, Finnish migrants from Savonia (historical province), Savonia and Northern Tavastia (historical province), Tavastia in Finland who settled in forest areas of Sweden proper and Norway during the late 16th and early-to-mid-17th centuries, and traditionally pursued slash-and-burn agriculture, a method used for turning forests into farmlands. Kuutar
Kuutar (; ) is the goddess of the Moon in Finnish mythology. According to Anna-Leena Siikala, Kuutar and Päivätär belong to a tradition that was influenced by Baltic mythology. In runic songs She owns the gold of the Moon, spins golden yarns, and weaves clothes out of them. In runic songs, she is asked to tell her children, bees and wasps, not to sting. A birch is a thin-leaved deciduous hardwood tree of the genus ''Betula'' (), in the family Betulaceae, which also includes alders, hazels, and hornbeams. Pohjola
Pohjola (; from 'base, bottom', but used in derived forms like ''pohjois-'' to mean 'north' + ''-'' 'place'), sometimes just Pohja (), is a location in Finnish mythology. Lemminkäinen
Lemminkäinen () or Lemminki () is a prominent figure in Finnish mythology. He is one of the heroes of the ''Kalevala'', where his character is a composite of several separate heroes of oral poetry. He is usually depicted as young and good-looking, with wavy red hair. Description The original, mythological Lemminkäinen is a shamanistic figure. In the Kalevala, he has been blended together with epic war-heroes Kaukomieli/Kaukamoinen and Ahti Saarelainen.
