Katunayake (, ), is a suburb of Negombo in Western Province, Sri Lanka. It is the site of Bandaranaike International Airport, the primary international air gateway to Sri Lanka. With the change of government in 1977 and the introduction of the open economy policy a large area was allocated to create a free trade zone (currently known as the Export Promotion Zone). Bandaranaike International Airport
Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) (commonly known as Colombo International Airport, Colombo–Bandaranaike International Airport, and locally as Katunayake International Airport) (IATA airport code, IATA: CMB, ICAO airport code, ICAO: VCBI) is the main international airport in Sri Lanka. It is named after former Prime Minister S. W. R. D. Bandaranaike (1899–1959) and is in the suburb of Negombo, north of the nation's capital and commercial center, Colombo. E03 Expressway (Sri Lanka)
The Colombo–Katunayake Expressway is Sri Lanka's second E Class highway. The highway links the Sri Lankan capital Colombo with Bandaranaike International Airport, Katunayake and Negombo. Construction on the highway began in October 2009, and it was opened on 27 October 2013, by former president Mahinda Rajapaksa. The highway has three lanes each way from Colombo to Peliyagoda, and two lanes each way from Peliyagoda to Katunayake, with the width ranging from . The total cost of the project was US $292 million. Exim Bank of China funded US$248.2 million of the total cost and the government of Sri Lanka spent US$45 million on the project. The speed limit is for the first and for the rest of the road. The Expressway has 42 bridges and 88 culverts including a 480 metre long viaduct at Hunupitiya and an 800-metre viaduct at Katunayake. SriLankan Airlines is the flag carrier of Sri Lanka and a member airline of the Oneworld airline alliance. Mahinda Balasuriya
Dr. Mahinda Balasuriya (18 June 1953 – 29 April 2021) was the 32nd Inspector General of the Sri Lanka Police (IGP) (2009–2011). Balasuriya was educated at Ananda College, Colombo, before obtaining a BSc. in Chemistry and a M.Phil at the University of Peradeniya. Balasuriya joined the Police Department on 1 March 1978 as a Probationary Assistant Superintendent of Police, and has held a number of key posts, including those of Senior DIG, Range I and Range III. Puttalam Line
The Puttalam line (originally called the North-Western Line) is a broad gauge railway line in the Sri Lanka Railways, rail network of Sri Lanka.
