Katja Wächter
Katja Wächter (born 28 January 1982 in Leipzig, Sachsen) is a German foil fencer. In 2009, Wachter won a silver medal for the same weapon at the European Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, and bronze, as a member of the German fencing team, at the World Championships in Antalya, Turkey. Wachter represented Germany at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, where she competed in two foil events. For her first event, the women's individual foil, Wachter defeated Peru's María Luisa Doig, Romania's Cristina Stahl, and France's Corinne Maîtrejean in the preliminary rounds, before losing out the quarterfinal match to Italy's Giovanna Trillini, with a score of 8–15. Biography Carolin Golubytskyi attended Riemenschneider-Realschule Tauberbischofsheim and the Kaufmännische Schule Tauberbischofsheim. Golubytskyi fought for the Fencing-Club Tauberbischofsheim. She is coached by her husband, Sergei Golubytskyi, a former world class fencer, 3 time consecutive World Champion, and Olympic silver medallist. Giovanna Trillini (born 17 May 1970 in Jesi) is an Italian foil fencer. She is a 4-time Olympic champion (3 times in the team event, 1 time individual) and won an additional silver and two bronze medals in individual Olympic competitions. Biography She has two brothers, Ezio and Roberto, who were both fencers. In 2001, she got her degree in Sport Science at the University of Urbino.Trillini won the bronze medal at the foil 2006 World Fencing Championships after she lost 15–8 to Margherita Granbassi in the semi-final. Later in the tournament she also won a silver in the team's foil event together with her teammates Elisa Di Francisca, Margherita Granbassi and Valentina Vezzali. Corinne Maîtrejean (born 8 November 1979 in Tassin-la-Demi-Lune, Rhône (department), Rhône) is a French Foil (fencing), foil fencing, fencer who won a bronze medal in the foil team event of the 2005 World Fencing Championships in Leipzig with her teammates Adeline Wuillème, Céline Seigneur and Astrid Guyart. She is the daughter of five-time Olympian Ecaterina Stahl-Iencic, who won two bronze medals for the team foil at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City, and at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich. She is also a member of CSA Steaua Bucuresti in Bucharest, and is coached and trained by Ducu Petre.
