Kate Sheil is an Australian stage and television actress, whose roles include prison officer Janet Conway in the cult television series ''Prisoner'', a role lasting six months in 1981 and 1982. In 1972 she had been a regular cast member of situation comedy series '' Birds in the Bush''. Other credits include: ''Cop Shop'', ''Homicide'', '' Sons and Daughters'', ''A Country Practice'', '' Water Rats'' and '' All Saints''. She had a small role in feature film ''Puberty Blues'' (1981) as a school teacher. Biography Sheil first appeared in the 1971 television movie '' What for Mariane?'' ''Prisoner'' (known in the UK and the US as ''Prisoner: Cell Block H'') is an Australian television soap opera, which broadcast on Network Ten (originally The 0-10 Network) from February 27 (Melbourne) February 26 (Sydney) 1979 to December 1986 (Melbourne), though the series finale would not screen until September 1987 in Sydney, where it aired as a 3-hour film that was split into three 1-hour episodes at the much-later time-slot of 10.30pm, running eight seasons and 692 episodes. Tom Oliver
Tom Oliver (born 12 June 1938) is a British-born Australian retired actor who started his career in theatre in his native country, before emigrating to Australia. Oliver, a staple of the small screen since the early 1960s, is best known for his TV soap opera roles, most especially '' Neighbours'' as Lou Carpenter, a role he played for 25 years. The character was known for his constant sparring with Harold Bishop, and his trademark dirty laugh, which he previously utilised in an earlier role on ''Number 96''. Oliver has stated that it was inspired by the comic actor Sid James. He appeared in the early Crawford Productions police procedurals, before having the soap opera roles in '' Bellbird'', as Tom Grey and in ''Number 96'' as Jack Sellers. ''Blackrock'' is a 1997 Australian teen drama thriller film produced by David Elfick and Catherine Knapman, directed by Steven Vidler with the screenplay by Nick Enright. Marking Vidler's directorial debut, the film was adapted from the play of the same name, also written by Enright, which was inspired by the murder of Leigh Leigh. Russell Street Theatre
The Russell Street Theatre was a theatre on Russell Street, Melbourne, Australia. Melbourne Theatre Company performed there from 1960 to 1994, using it as their main city venue in the 1960s and early 1970s and their secondary venue from the late 1970s to 1994. The building was first constructed as an engineering workshop in the 1880s and was extended as a church in 1920. In 1955, the building was sold to the Council of Adult Education and converted into a theatre seating 420. The then Union Theatre Repertory Company (later the MTC) used the building for half the year as their city venue from 1960, and took over the building five years later. Architect Robin Boyd renovated the theatre and decorated it in shades of red. The theatre closed in 1994 when the MTC moved fully to the then Victorian Arts Centre.
