Kastri, Preveza
Kastri () is a village and a community of the Parga municipality. Before the 2011 local government reform it was part of the municipality of Fanari, of which it was a municipal district. The 2021 census recorded 239 inhabitants in the village. The community of Kastri covers an area of 4.476 km2. Geography The village stands on a plain where the river Acheron passes through. It is on the northern part of the Preveza regional unit in a distance of almost 47 km from Preveza. History The ruins of an acropolis can be seen on a hill near Kastri, which give the village its name, meaning "castle". These are likely to be the remains of the ancient city Pandosia. Preveza () is one of the regional units of Greece. It is part of the Epirus region. Its capital is the town of Preveza. Geography The regional unit of Preveza is located northwest of the Ambracian Gulf. The Ionian Sea lies to the west. The terrain is mostly hilly. The mountains of Xerovouni are in the far northeast. Rivers include the Louros in the east, and Acheron in the north. Its climate is typically Mediterranean with hot dry summers and cool winters. Snow is not uncommon in winter at higher elevations. Parga
Parga (, , ) is a town and municipality located in the northwestern part of the Preveza (regional unit), regional unit of Preveza in Epirus (region), Epirus, northwestern Greece. The seat of the municipality is the village Kanallaki. Parga lies on the Ionian coast between the cities of Preveza and Igoumenitsa. It is a resort town known for its natural environment. Fanari, Preveza
Fanari (; ) is a region and a former municipality in the Preveza (regional unit), Preveza regional unit, Epirus (region), Epirus, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Parga, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 205.893 km2. Population 6,943 (2021). The seat of the municipality was in Kanallaki. History The earliest Mycenaean Greece, Mycenaean pottery at the site of Cichyrus, Ephyra at the mouth of the Acheron river dates to the Late Helladic IIIA (c.1400–c.1300 BC). The site of Ephyra is now located 4 km from the Ionian coast but in ancient times the coastline extended much farther inland. Fortification at the acropolis of Ephyra include two successive defensive walls in cyclopean masonry and a gate in built similar to the Lion Gate of Mycenae. Acheron
The Acheron ( or ; ''Acheron'' or Ἀχερούσιος ''Acherousios''; ''Acherontas'') is a river in the Epirus (region), Epirus region of northwest Greece. It is long, and has a drainage area of . The river's source is located near the village Selloi, Ioannina, Zotiko, in the southwestern part of the Ioannina (regional unit), Ioannina regional unit. The Acheron flows into the Ionian Sea in Ammoudia, Preveza, Ammoudia, near Parga. Preveza
Preveza (, ) is a city in the region of Epirus (region), Epirus, northwestern Greece, located on the northern peninsula of the mouth of the Ambracian Gulf. It is the capital of the Preveza (regional unit), regional unit of Preveza, which is the southern part of the region of Epirus (region), Epirus. The Aktio-Preveza Undersea Tunnel, Aktio-Preveza Immersed Tunnel –the first, and so far only, undersea tunnel in Greece– was completed in 2002. Acropolis

Pandosia (Epirus)
Pandosia () was an ancient Greek city of Epirus. Together with the other Elean colonies Bucheta and Elatea it was a city of the Cassopaeans, who were a sub-tribe of the Thesprotians. It was located south of the river Acheron. History Very little is known about its history, save that Pandosia and its neighbours Bucheta and Elatea were conquered by Philip of Macedon. He transferred the cities to the possession of Alexander I of Epirus. Alexander was allegedly warned by an oracle to beware of Pandosia and the Acheron river. When he left Epirus for a military campaign on the Italian Peninsula he thought himself to be safe, far away from the two places. He did not realize there was also a city called Pandosia and identically named river in Bruttium until it was too late. He was killed there during the Battle of Pandosia.
