Upshi
Upshi is a village and road junction on the Leh-Manali Highway in the union territory of Ladakh in India. It is located to the southeast of Leh along the Indus river valley and Tanglang La on the Leh-Manali highway. Gya, Ladakh, Gya is also to the south. An ancient trading road (right turn while coming from Manali, Himachal Pradesh, Manali) heads to the east from Upshi towards Tibet. There is a helipad on this road. Hemis
Hemis, also spelled Hamis, is a village in the Leh district of Ladakh, India. It is located in the Kharu tehsil, 40 km southeast of Leh town on the Leh-Manali Highway and under-construction Bhanupli–Leh line. Hemis is well known for the Hemis monastery that was established in 1672 AD by king Sengge Namgyal. The village hosts a colorful festival held in July. It is close to the Hemis National Park, an area that is home to the endangered snow leopard. The national park was created in 1981. Hemis Monastery Hemis Monastery already existed before the 11th century. Nāropā, the pupil of the yogi Tilopa, and teacher of the translator Marpa was connected with this monastery. Hemis National Park
Hemis National Park is a high-elevation national park in Hemis in Leh district of Ladakh, India. It is approx. 50 km from Leh,One of the capital of Ladakh (Leh, Kargil). Globally famous for its snow leopards, it is believed to have the highest density of them in any protected area in the world. Hemis Monastery
Hemis Monastery is a Himalayan Buddhist monastery ('' gompa'') of the Drukpa Lineage, in Hemis on the bank of the Indus River, Ladakh, India. Situated 45 km from Leh, it was re-established in 1672 by the Ladakhi king Sengge Namgyal. The annual Hemis festival honouring Padmasambhava is held there in early June. Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport is a military airfield of the Indian Air Force as well as domestic airport serving Leh, the capital of Ladakh, India. Pangong Tso
Pangong Tso or Pangong Lake (; zh, s=班公错, p=Bān gōng cuò; ) is an endorheic lake spanning eastern Ladakh and Ngari Prefecture, West Tibet situated at an elevation of . It is long and divided into five sublakes, called ''Pangong Tso'', ''Tso Nyak'', ''Rum Tso'' (twin lakes) and ''Nyak Tso''. Approximately 50% of the length of the overall lake lies within Tibet administered by China, 40% in Indian-administered Ladakh, and the remaining 10% is disputed and is a de facto buffer zone between India and China. The lake is wide at its broadest point. All together it covers almost 700 km2. During winter the lake freezes completely, despite being saline water.
