The European Women's Handball Championship is the official competition for senior women's national handball teams of Europe, and takes place every two years. In addition to crowning the European champions, the tournament also serves as a qualifying tournament for the Olympic Games and World Championship. Jan Pytlick
Jan Pytlick (born 5 June 1967) is a Danish handball coach, and trains Saudi Arabia national team. He was head coach for the Danish women's national handball team from 1998 to 2006, and again from 2007 to 2014. Pytlick has led the women's national team to victory in two Summer Olympics, as they became Olympic Champions in 2000, and again in 2004. After the team's flop at the 2014 European Women's Handball Championship, DHF and Pytlick agreed to end cooperation. He is educated as a bricklayer. He played handball himself until he was forced to stop by injuries at the age of 19. This lead him to pursue a training career instead. He was the coach of the Danish teams Team Esbjerg and GOG Handball, both in Women's handball and men's handball, before DHF suggested that he applied to become the Danish national coach. 2019–20 Damehåndboldligaen
The 2019–20 Damehåndboldligaen (known as ''HTH Ligaen'' for sponsorship reasons) was the 84th season of Damehåndboldligaen, Denmark's premier handball league. Team Esbjerg were the defending champions and HH Elite were promoted from the 1. division. The season was disrupted due to the covid-19 pandemic. On March 11th 2020, the Danish Handball Federation decided to cancel all matches at all levels the following 14 days. On April 7th it was decided that the season would be declared over without playing the championship play-off or the remaining matches in the regular season and declare the leading team the champion. Team Esbjerg won the title, as they were leading the table at the time. EH Aalborg were relegated, as they were last in table at the time of cancellation. The EHF Champions League is the most important club handball competition for men's teams in Europe and involves the leading teams from the top European nations. Team Handball
Handball (also known as team handball, European handball, Olympic handball or indoor handball) is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outcourt players and a Handball goalkeeper, goalkeeper) pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the opposing team. A standard match consists of two periods of 30 minutes, and the team that scores more goals wins. Modern handball is played on a court of , with a goal in the middle of each end.
