Karanlık Canyon
Karanlık Canyon (), literally "Dark Canyon", is a deep steep-sided gorge located between the İliç and Kemaliye districts of Erzincan Province, Turkey, formed by Karasu River on the Munzur Mountains. The Munzur Mountains, which run in about east–west direction, are split by north–south directed narrow valleys formed by streams. The formation in Kemaliye area, created by Karasu River, is called Kemaliye Pass (). Its part between the Bağıştaş village of İliç and the Dutluca village of Kemaliye is named Karanlık Canyon. The canyon is long, deep and wide at the base featuring almost 90% rocky slope gradient. Karasu (Euphrates)
The Karasu ( Turkish for 'black water') or Western Euphrates is a long river in eastern Turkey, one of the two sources of the Euphrates. It has a length of about 450 km. To the ancient Greeks the river was known as the (). Course The river begins at the Dumlu Dağ in Erzurum Province, and drains the plains around the city of Erzurum. It is joined by the Serçeme River, then flows west through Erzincan Province, turning south, then west and receiving the tributary Tuzla Su. Between Erzincan and Kemah it is joined by the Gönye River and passes through a rocky gorge. Near the small town of Kemaliye it receives its last tributary, the Çaltı Çayı, before turning sharply southeast to flow through a deep canyon into the Keban Dam Lake on the Euphrates. Munzur Mountains
Munzur Mountains (), is a mountain range in Eastern Anatolia Region, Turkey. It is located on the border of Tunceli Province, Tunceli and Erzincan Province, Erzincan provinces. There is Munzur Valley National Park in the Munzur Mountains.
