''Karakanakadal'' is a 1971 Indian Malayalam-language film, directed by K. S. Sethumadhavan and produced by Hari Pothan. The film stars Sathyan, Madhu, Jayabharathi, Vincent, Sankaradi and Kaviyoor Ponnamma. It is based on the novel of the same name by Muttathu Varkey. The film won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Malayalam. Sathyan (actor)
Sathyan (born Cheruvilakathu Veetil Manuel Sathyanesan Nadar; 9 November 1912 – 15 June 1971) was an Indian actor known for his work in Malayalam cinema. Known for his own style and versatility in acting, Satyan was one of the pioneers of realistic acting in Indian film industry. He is respectfully called Sathyan Master. He was also a soldier in the British Indian Army and later a police officer with the Travancore State Police. Sathyan served as an officer in the British Indian Army during World War II. After the war he joined the Travancore state police as an inspector in late 1940s. During this time he got interested in acting and acted in amateur stage plays. He made his debut film in 1952 film Athmasakhi and rose to stardom with the critically acclaimed film Neelakuyil in 1954. Vayalar Ramavarma
Vayalar Ramavarma (March 25, 1928 – October 27, 1975), also known as Vayalar, was an Indian poet and lyricist of Malayalam language. He was known for his poems which include ''Sargasangeetham'', ''Mulankaadu'', ''Padamudrakal'', ''Aayisha'' and ''Oru Judas janikkunnu'' and for around 1300 songs he penned for 256 Malayalam films. He received the National Film Award for Best Lyrics in 1972 and was the winner of the Kerala State Film Award for Best Lyrics in its year of inception which he received three more times. He was also a recipient of the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Poetry in 1962. His collaborations with G. Vincent (actor)
Vincent (12 February 1946 - 30 August 1991) was an Indian actor from Kerala. He was active during the 1970s and 80s and acted in about 160+ Malayalam films, many of them as leading actor. Born in Edavanakad Vypin, he was a romantic and action hero of his time. Personal life Vincent was married to Mary, who was working as a teacher in Chennai Public School, Chennai. He died of a heart attack on 31 August 1991 at the age of 45. Vincent's wife Mary died on 15 October 2016 in a road accident near Thirumangalam, Chennai. They are survived by their two sons; Roby Vincent, an assistant film director who was with Director Bala and is currently working in Tamil and Malayalam films. Vadakkekarayil Koran Bharathan (16 January 1929- 19 August 2015), better known as Paravoor Bharatan was an Indian actor who acted in Malayalam films. He started his career in movies during the 1950s. Bharathan is known as a versatile actor and has played a variety of roles including negative roles, character roles and comedy roles. Life Bharathan was born to Vadakkekarayil Kochannan Koran and Kurumbakutty in 1929 at Vavakkad, Moothakunnam in North Paravoor, Cochin. He went to S.N.M. Mary Joseph, famously known as Meena (22 April 1941 – 17 September 1997), was an Indian actress. She primarily appeared in Malayalam movies. She died on 17 September 1997 due to a cardiac arrest. Early life Meena (Mary Joseph) was the eighth child in a Marthoma Syrian Christian family from kumarapuram-haripad, in Alappuzha. Born on April 22, 1941 to Koyikkaleth Itty Cheria Eapen and his wife, Eleyamma Eapen, she began her early career in theatre in Kalanilayam and Geetha Arts Club. Alummoodan (15 March 1933 3 May 1992) was an Indian actor who worked in Malayalam films. He had acted in more than 100 films and mainly did comedy roles. Background Alummoodan was born to Alummoottil Joseph and Rosamma in Changanacherry. He was married to Rosamma Dominic. They have six children, 2 sons and 4 daughters. His son Boban Alummoodan is also an actor in Malayalam movies.
