Kantoku Banzai!
is a 2007 Japanese film written, directed, edited by the film's lead star Takeshi Kitano. It is the second film in Kitano's surrealist autobiographical trilogy, following ''Takeshis''', and concluding with ''Achilles and the Tortoise''. Style The comedy crosses a broad range of genres common to Japanese film in a fashion similar to '' Getting Any?'', Kitano's 1995 parody. Kitano described the film as "a cinematic extension of his manzai comedy routines that continues in much the same vein as his last feature, the similarly eclectic ''Takeshis." Plot Kitano plays a hapless film director in search of a commercial hit, while suffering failure after failure as he tries out different genres. Takeshi Kitano
, also known as in Japan, is a Japanese comedian, actor, and filmmaker. While he is known primarily as a comedian and TV host in his native Japan, he is better known abroad for his work as a filmmaker and actor as well as TV host. During his time as a student at Meiji University, he became a comedian at the strip theater France-za in Asakusa, Asakusa, Tokyo. In 1973, he formed a comedy duo called Two Beat with Kiyoshi Kaneko, who later became Beat Kiyoshi. Kitano adopted the stage name Beat Takeshi. Riding the wave of the comedy boom, he gained popularity with satirical and sharp-tongued black humor. In the 1980s, he appeared in TV shows such as ''Oretachi Hyōkin-zoku'' which recorded the highest viewership rating of 29.1%, and ''Takeshi's Castle'' which recorded 24.7%, becoming explosively popular on television. Akira Takarada
was a Japanese film actor best known for his roles in the ''Godzilla'' film series. Life and career Akira Takarada was born in Korea under Japanese rule, and lived for a time in Manchuria, China. His father worked as an engineer on the South Manchuria Railway. After the war, he remained in Harbin, and he was able to speak Mandarin Chinese and English. Takarada moved to Allied-occupied Japan with his family in 1948. He joined Toho as part of their "New Face" program in April 1953. (born 9 August 1935) is a Japanese actress, voice actress and essayist. Biography Early life Kazuko was born in Tokyo as a first daughter of Eisuke Yoshiyuki, a writer, and Aguri. She has an older brother, Junnosuke Yoshiyuki, a novelist, and a sister, Rie Yoshiyuki, a poet.
