Kankakee Township is one of seventeen townships in Kankakee County, Illinois, United States. As of the 2010 census, its population was 27,558 and it contained 11,219 housing units. This township has the smallest area in the county, but is second largest in population. History Kankakee Township was formed from a portion of Bourbonnais Township on March 12, 1855. The 11th congressional district of Illinois is represented by Democrat Bill Foster. Geographic boundaries 2011 redistricting From 1865 to 1867, the district included Bureau, LaSalle, Livingston and Woodford counties. From 1901 until 1947 the 11th congressional district included Kane, DuPage, McHenry and Will Counties.
