Kalpavriksh is a non-profit organisation based in India with its office in Pune, Maharashtra. The organisation takes up research, networking, education, grassroots work, advocacy and activism in the field of environment, ecology, development, and alternatives. The institute was formed in 1979 when a student-led group began to campaign for Delhi Ridge Forest. Ashish Kothari
Ashish Kothari is an Indian environmentalist and author. Life Ashish Kothari studied Sociology at Hindu College, University of Delhi, graduating in 1983. He then gained a master's of arts in Sociology from Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi in 1985. He is one of the founders of Kalpavriksh, a non-profit organisation in India which deals with environmental and development issues. Kothari has also been a teacher at Indian Institute of Public Administration, New Delhi. India was ranked seventh among the list of countries most affected by climate change in 2019. India emits about 3 gigatonnes (Gigatonne, Gt) Carbon dioxide equivalent, CO2eq of greenhouse gases each year; about two and a half tons per person, which is less than the world average.
