Kadıköy Bull Statue
The Kadıköy bull statue is a statue of a bull installed in Kadıköy, Istanbul, Turkey. The bull has become a mascot for the neighborhood. It was ordered by Abdülaziz in 1864 and created by French artist Rouillard in Paris. The statue has been in its current location on Altıyol Square since 1987. Abdulaziz
Abdulaziz (; ; 8 February 18304 June 1876) was the sultan of the Ottoman Empire from 25 June 1861 to 30 May 1876, when he was overthrown in a government coup. He was a son of Sultan Mahmud II and succeeded his brother Abdulmejid I in 1861. Abdulaziz's reign began during the Ottoman Empire's resurgence following the Crimean War and two decades of the Tanzimat reforms, though it was still reliant on European capital. The decade after his accession was dominated by the duo of Fuad Pasha and Aali Pasha, who accelerated reorganization of the Empire. The Vilayet Law was promulgated, Western codes were applied to more aspects of Ottoman law, and the millets were restructured. The issue of Tanzimat dualism continued to plague the empire, however. Pierre Louis Rouillard
Pierre Louis Rouillard (; Paris, 16 January 1820 – Paris, 2 June 1881) was a French sculptor known for his sculptures of animals. He was one of a "school of French '' animalières''", which also included Pierre-Jules Mêne, Antoine-Louis Barye, Auguste Caïn and François Pompon. He worked mainly in cast iron rather than bronze. Rouillard attended the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where he was a pupil of Jean-Pierre Cortot. He was a professor of sculpture at the École des Arts décoratifs from 1840 to 1881. François Pompon studied with him. His works include sculptures for the Opéra de Paris, Palais du Louvre and the Fontaine Saint-Michel. He was commissioned to travel to Istanbul, by Sultan Abdulaziz. He has many sculptures in different locations of Istanbul, including a bull sculpture at the center of Istanbul's Kadıköy district. Big Bull, India
The ''Big Bull'' is a bronze sculpture of a charging bull designed by Solapur-based sculptor Bhagwan Rampure and was originally located inside the premises of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on Dalal Street in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. The sculpture was installed outside the building of Bombay Stock Exchange on 11 January 2008. The bull is inspired by Arturo Di Modica's ''Charging Bull'' sculpture that was installed on Wall Street outside the New York Stock Exchange Building in 1989. The ''Big Bull'' is tall, long and weighs . It was relocated to the Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City) near Ahmedabad in 2017. On April 27, 2023 a replica of Big bull is installed on the outskirts of Dalal Street with RK Laxmans Common man Statue.
