Kaapo Kähkönen
Kaapo Kähkönen (born 16 August 1996) is a Finnish professional ice hockey goaltender for the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL) while under contract to the Florida Panthers of the National Hockey League (NHL). Kähkönen was drafted by the Minnesota Wild in the fourth round, 109th overall, of the 2014 NHL entry draft, and has also played in the NHL for the San Jose Sharks, New Jersey Devils, and Colorado Avalanche. Playing career Kähkönen played as a youth in his homeland within the Espoo Blues organization. He made his professional debut on loan to TUTO Hockey of the Mestis in the 2014–15 season before returning to make his Liiga debut with the Blues during the following 2015–16 season. On 13 April 2016, Kähkönen left the Blues in order to be exposed to more playing time. He agreed to a two-year contract with Lukko. The Iowa Wild are a professional ice hockey team based in Des Moines, Iowa. They are the American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the Minnesota Wild of the National Hockey League (NHL). The Wild play their home games at Wells Fargo Arena. Mestis
Mestis (from , meaning 'Championship series', stylized as MEST1S) is the second-highest men's ice hockey league in Finland. The league was established by the Finnish Ice Hockey Association in 2000 to replace the I-divisioona ('First Division'). Being promoted to SM-liiga is possible if a Mestis team beats a SM-liiga club in the qualification series and matches all the criteria set by the SM-liiga. Mestis, however, is an open league where relegation and promotion are possible with the 3rd league, Suomi-sarja. Mestis is also the highest league governed by the FIHA. Vítek Vaněček (born 9 January 1996) is a Czech professional ice hockey goaltender for the Florida Panthers of the National Hockey League (NHL). Playing career Vaněček originally played as a youth with BK Havlíčkův Brod, HC Havlíčkův Brod through to the under-18 level before joining the ranks of HC Bílí Tygři Liberec in 2013. Jacob "Jake" Middleton (born January 2, 1996) is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman for the Minnesota Wild of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was originally drafted 210th overall (the last pick in the draft) by the Los Angeles Kings in the 2014 NHL entry draft. Playing career After being drafted by the Owen Sound Attack in the 2012 Ontario Hockey League draft, Middleton played 14 games for the team before being traded to the Ottawa 67's on January 7, 2013. 2021–22 NHL Season
The 2021–22 NHL season was the 105th season of operation (104th season of play) of the National Hockey League (NHL). The league expanded to 32 teams with the addition of the Seattle Kraken. The league had an October-to-April regular season scheduling and a full 82-game regular season for the first time since the 2018–19 NHL season as the previous two NHL seasons were shortened due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The league also restored its pre-COVID-19 Eastern and Western conferences. The season began on October 12. Cameron Talbot (born July 5, 1987) is a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender for the Detroit Red Wings of the National Hockey League (NHL). He has also played for the New York Rangers, Edmonton Oilers, Philadelphia Flyers, Calgary Flames, Minnesota Wild, Ottawa Senators, and Los Angeles Kings. Jesper Boqvist (born 30 October 1998) is a Swedish professional ice hockey centre for the Florida Panthers of the National Hockey League (NHL). Boqvist was selected 36th overall by the New Jersey Devils in the 2017 NHL entry draft. He won the Stanley Cup with the Panthers in 2025. 2017–18 Liiga Season
The 2017–18 SM-liiga season was the 43rd season of the SM-liiga (branded simply as "Liiga"), the top level of ice hockey in Finland, since the league's formation in 1975. Tappara was the season as a defending champion. This season included a record number of matches played on Fridays and Saturdays. In autumn, there was a national team break from 5 November until 13 November.
