KK Sloboda Užice
Košarkaški klub Sloboda ( sr-cyr, Кошаркашки клуб Слобода), commonly referred to as KK Sloboda Užice, is a men's professional basketball club based in Užice, Serbia. The club currently participates in the Basketball League of Serbia. The team play domestic home matches in the Veliki Park Sports Hall. History The story began in November 1949 when a group of high school students become interested in basketball. Soon they played two friendly matches, and in January 1950 the first basketball tournament was held in Titovo Užice. Same year two basketball sections were formed, one at the City Gymnastic Society, and the other at the Sports Association "Prvi partizan". Later on, the basketball players from the City Gymnastics Society moved to the Sports Association "Sloboda" to form a new basketball section. Also, female team was formed then. The Basketball League of Serbia ( sr, Кошаркашка лига Србије, Košarkaška liga Srbije; abbr. КЛС or KLS), is a top-tier men's professional basketball league in Serbia. Founded in 2006, it is run by the Basketball Federation of Serbia (KSS). Rules Competition format The league, operated by the Basketball Federation of Serbia, consists of two stages: the First League which has 16 teams and the SuperLeague which has 8 teams. Since the 2017–18 season, the top 8 teams in First League are promoted to Super League with five Serbian teams from the ABA League. Two lowest-placed teams, positioned 15th and 16th in the First League, are relegated to a lower-tier league – Second Basketball League of Serbia. Mladen Šekularac ( sr-cyrl, Младен Шекуларац; born January 29, 1981) is a Montenegrin basketball coach and former professional player. Playing career At one point Šekularac was considered to be one of the biggest European talents and was projected as NBA draft lottery pick candidate. His reputation was such that his club at the time, KK FMP, put a €1.3 million price tag on his transfer. Vladimir Đokić ( sr-cyr, Владимир Ђокић; born April 25, 1971) is a Serbian professional basketball coach and former player who is the head coach for Vršac of the Basketball League of Serbia. Playing career A point guard, Đokić played 18 seasons in Yugoslavia, Slovakia, Hungary, Macedonia, and Serbia, between from 1990 and 2008. During his playing days, he played for Metalac, Spartak, Partizan, Crvena zvezda, Balkan Steel, Ergonom, EKF Eger, and Nitra. He retired as a player with Metalac in 2008. Miloš Obrenović ( sr-cyr, Милош Обреновић; born 12 May 1988) is a Serbian professional basketball coach. Coaching career Obrenović coached Sloboda Užice and the Bosnian team Varda HE. Petar Rodić
Petar Rodić ( sr-cyr, Петар Родић; born June 23, 1959) is a Serbian basketball coach. Early life Rodić started to play basketball for OKK Dunav, the club where he was one of the founding members. In 1979, he retired due to injury. Rodić earned his degree in physical culture from the University of Novi Sad. Coaching career In 1979, Rodić became head coach for Dunav.
