KKDA-FM (104.5 MHz), known on air as K104, is a radio station in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex broadcasting an urban contemporary format. It is owned by Service Broadcasting Corporation alongside KRNB. Its studios are located in Arlington, Texas, and the transmitter site is in Cedar Hill. History 104.5 FM began operation on June 8, 1947, as KIXL. KIXL (pronounced "Kicksil") aired a successful beautiful music format, simulcast on both 104.5 FM and 1040 AM ("104 on both dials"). A pioneer in the "mood music" format, the station showed up in the top five in Dallas market ratings consistently through 1968, but by the beginning of the 1970s KIXL was facing tough competition from KOAX, which had come to dominate as the top-rated easy listening station. KRNB (105.7 MHz), branded ''Smooth R&B 105.7'', is an urban adult contemporary–formatted radio station in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex, owned by Service Broadcasting Corporation alongside sister station KKDA-FM. Its studios are located in Arlington, Texas and the station's transmitter is located north of its city of license, Decatur, Texas. In addition to its format, it is the DFW affiliate of ''The Steve Harvey Morning Show'' and it carries a ''Quiet Storm'' program at night. History KRNB was first launched at 6 a.m. on September 16, 1996, with an Urban Adult Contemporary format playing R&B music, hence the call sign. KZZA (106.7 MHz "La Ranchera 106.7 FM") is a commercial FM radio station licensed to Muenster, Texas, and serving northern communities in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Rhythmic contemporary, also known as Rhythmic Top 20, Rhythmic Top 30, Rhythmic Top 40, Rhythmic CHR or rhythmic crossover, is a primarily American music-radio format that includes a mix of EDM, upbeat rhythmic pop, hip-hop and upbeat R&B hits. Rhythmic contemporary never uses hard rock or country in its airplay, but it may occasionally use a reggae, Latin, reggaeton, or an urban contemporary gospel hit. KNOR (93.7 FM), branded as "La Raza 93.7", is a radio station in the Dallas/Fort Worth area in Krum, Texas. This station is owned and operated by Estrella Media. Its translation in English means "the race 93.7." Station history The station was first established as 105.7 KZEA in 1984 (then KTYX and KICM) in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. The station plotted to move to the Dallas area on rimshot 93.7 frequency in 2002.
