The Seattle Seahawks are a professional American football team based in Seattle. Linebacker (LB) is a playing position in gridiron football. Linebackers are members of the defensive team, and line up three to five yards behind the line of scrimmage and the defensive linemen. They are the "middle ground" of defenders, playing closer to the line of scrimmage than the defensive backs (secondary), but farther back than the defensive linemen. As such, linebackers play a hybrid role and are often the most versatile players on the defensive side of the ball; they can be asked to play roles similar to either a defensive lineman (such as stopping the runner on a running play) or a defensive back (such as dropping back into pass coverage). Derek Lee Sherrod (born April 23, 1989) is a former American football offensive tackle. He was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft. He played college football at Mississippi State. Early years Sherrod was born in Chula Vista, California. He attended Caledonia High School in Caledonia, Mississippi, where he played for the Caledonia Confederates high school football team. He was a four-year starter on the offensive line and three-year regular on the defensive side of the ball. He allowed just one quarterback sack during his senior season and was credited with 32 pancake blocks, while also making 79 tackles on defense, with six quarterback sacks and four fumble recoveries.
