Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2012
The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2012 was the tenth edition of the annual Junior Eurovision Song Contest. It took place at the Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam, Netherlands on 1 December 2012. Dutch broadcaster AVRO was the host broadcaster for the event. For the second time the Netherlands hosted the contest, after hosting the contest in 2007 in Rotterdam. The show was hosted by Kim-Lian van der Meij for a second time, this time joined by Ewout Genemans. The motto for the contest was ''"Break The Ice"''. Twelve countries took part in the contest, making it the smallest number of countries participating in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest history, and equalling the number of countries participated in the 1970 Eurovision Song Contest held at RAI Congrescentrum. Albania and Azerbaijan, and Israel made their debuts at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Ewout Genemans
Ewout Genemans (born 7 february 1985 in The Hague) is a Dutch tv producer, presenter, moderator and keynote speaker. He is well-known for presenting various tv programmes at RTL and produces popular shows with his production company No Pictures Please. Biography Genemans attended the St.-Maartenscollege in Voorburg and joined the Rabarber Youth theatre school in The Hague afterwards. After obtaining his havo-diploma, he studied at the School of Journalism in Utrecht for six months. He worked as an editorial assistant at Visible TV next to his studies and got to be part of the RTL4 show ‘Vliegende Hollanders’ in this way. He worked on the production of the tv show ‘Meiden van De Wit’ in 2003. RAI Amsterdam Convention Centre, formerly Amsterdam RAI Exhibition and Convention Centre or simply RAI Amsterdam (Dutch pronunciation: , acronym for ''Rijwiel en Automobiel Industrie''), is a complex of conference and exhibition halls in the Zuidas business district of Amsterdam, Netherlands. The Junior Eurovision Song Contest (often shortened to JESC, Junior Eurovision or Junior EuroSong) is an international song competition which has been organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) annually since 2003. It is held in a different European city each year, however the same city can host the contest more than once. The competition has many similarities to the Eurovision Song Contest from which its name is taken. Each participating broadcaster sends an act, the members of which are aged 9 to 14 on the day of the contest, and an original song lasting three minutes at most to compete against the other participating entries. Each entry represents the country served by the participating broadcaster. Viewers from all around the world are invited to vote for their favourite performances by online voting, and a national jury from each participating country also vote. The Eurovision Song Contest 2004 was the 49th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Istanbul, Turkey, following the country's victory at the with the song " Everyway That I Can" by Sertab Erener. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT), the contest was held at the Abdi İpekçi Arena, and, for the first time, consisted of a semi-final on 12 May, and a final on 15 May 2004.
