Junction Park State School is a heritage-listed state school at 50 Waldheim Street, Annerley, City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It was built from 1909 to 1910 by the Queensland Department of Public Works and MR Hornibrook. It is also known as the former Thompson Estate State School. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 6 May 2016. History Junction Park State School opened on its present site in 1891 as the Thompson Estate State School, to accommodate the growing suburban population of a previously rural district on the southern outskirts of Brisbane. Annerley is a suburb in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. In the , Annerley had a population of 11,336 people. Annerley is located by road south of the Brisbane GPO. Geography Much of the suburb is elevated, lying on a ridge that gives views of the city. Ipswich Road is major road in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. The road has been an important transport route since the 19th century when it connected the towns of Brisbane and Ipswich. In the 1990s, the section from Moorooka in Brisbane to Riverview in Ipswich was replaced by the Ipswich Motorway. Norman Creek (Queensland)
Norman Creek is a small tributary of the Brisbane River. The headwaters of the creek are located on the northern slopes of Toohey Mountain and Mount Gravatt in southern Brisbane. The name derives from a corruption of Gorman's Creek, after Lieutenant Gorman, of H. M. 8th Foot - the last commandant at Moreton Bay. Edmund Lockyer named the waterway Norman Creek in 1825. The creek drains the suburbs of Tarragindi and Holland Park West then flows northwards through Greenslopes, Norman Park and East Brisbane before entering the Brisbane River at Humbug Reach. The total catchment area is 29.8 km². Coorparoo Creek in Coorparoo is a sub-catchment of Norman Creek. Other sub-catchments include Sandy Creek and Ekibin Creek.
