Joseph Gimse
Joseph R. "Joe" Gimse (born July 31, 1957) is a Minnesota politician and a former member of the Minnesota Senate who represented District 13, which included portions of Kandiyohi County, Minnesota, Kandiyohi, Pope County, Minnesota, Pope and Stearns County, Minnesota, Stearns counties in the west central part of the state. A Republican Party of Minnesota, Republican, he was first elected to the Senate in 2006, and was reelected in 2010. He also ran unsuccessfully for the seat in 2002 against former Senator Dean Johnson (politician), Dean Johnson. He served as an minority leader, assistant minority leader. Gimse ran for reelection in 2012 in the newly drawn 17th District, but was defeated by Clara City DFLer Lyle Koenen. Gimse was a member of the Senate's Agriculture and Veterans Committee, the Business, Industry and Jobs Committee, the State and Local Government Operations and Oversight Committee, and the Transportation Committee. Dean Johnson (politician)
Dean Elton Johnson (born June 24, 1947 in Lanesboro, Minnesota) is a former Minnesota politician and a member of the Board of Regents of the University of Minnesota. He is a former member of the Minnesota House of Representatives, and a former member, majority leader and minority leader of the Minnesota Senate. Service in the Minnesota House and Senate Johnson was first elected to the House in 1978, representing the old District 21A, and served from 1979 to 1983. He was elected to the Senate in 1982 and represented District 13 in the west central part of the state. Prior to the 2002 legislative redistricting, the area was known as District 15. Through the years, he represented all or portions of Chippewa County, Minnesota, Chippewa, Kandiyohi County, Minnesota, Kandiyohi, McLeod County, Minnesota, McLeod, Meeker County, Minnesota, Meeker, Pope County, Minnesota, Pope, Renville County, Minnesota, Renville, Stearns County, Minnesota, Stearns and Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, Y ...
