Jonathan Solomon Moscot (ג'ון מוסקוט; born August 15, 1991) is an American-Israeli former Major League Baseball (MLB) pitcher who played for the Cincinnati Reds in 2015 and 2016, and who played internationally for Israel national baseball team, Team Israel. Moscot was drafted by the Reds in the fourth round of the 2012 Major League Baseball Draft. In 2013, his 140 strikeouts were the most of any Reds minor league pitcher. In 2014, pitching for the Double-A Pensacola Blue Wahoos, he was named a Southern League (1964–2020), Southern League Mid-Season All-Star. In 2015, after logging a 7–1 record with a 3.15 ERA for the AAA Louisville Bats, he was promoted to the majors and made his major league debut at the age of 23. In 2016 he underwent Tommy John surgery. He joined the Reds as a pitching coach in both Rookie Ball and Triple-A. In 2018, he became a dual Israeli citizen. In baseball, the pitcher is the player who throws ("pitches") the baseball from the pitcher's mound toward the catcher to begin each play, with the goal of retiring a batter, who attempts to either make contact with the pitched ball or draw a walk. In the numbering system used to record defensive plays, the pitcher is assigned the number 1. The pitcher is often considered the most important player on the defensive side of the game, and as such is situated at the right end of the defensive spectrum.
