John Morgan (economist)
John Morgan (November 11, 1967 – October 6, 2021) was the Oliver E. Williamson and Dolores J. Williamson Chair in the Economics of Organizations at the University of California, Berkeley. He was the founding director of the U.C. Berkeley Experimental Social Sciences Laboratory (Xlab). He was a member of the editorial board of the California Management Review since 2003. He was the faculty leader of the Center for Executive Education at UC Berkeley. Life Morgan was born on November 11, 1967 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. He received his B.S. in economics '' summa cum laude'' in 1989 from Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and Ph.D. in 1996 from Pennsylvania State University. John Morgan (merchant)
John Morgan (c. 1641–1 January 1715) was a Welsh merchant, sheriff and MP (for Monmouth Boroughs). He was born the fourth son of Sir Thomas Morgan (of Machen) and established himself as a London merchant, acquiring a large fortune trading with the West Indies. His brother was William Morgan. Determined to leave London and return to his native shire he purchased Rhiwperra Castle from a cousin as his home for 12,400 pounds. He was appointed High Sheriff of Monmouthshire in 1697. In 1701 he was elected to Parliament to represent Monmouth Boroughs until 1705. In 1705 he contested and lost the election for knight of the shire (MP) for Monmouthshire. He died in 1715 and was buried at Machen, Monmouthshire. John Morgan (Wisconsin Politician)
John J. Morgan (June 12, 1846February 10, 1926) was an American physician, lawyer, and Republican politician from Pepin County, Wisconsin. He was a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing Pepin and Buffalo counties during the 1915 session. He was also mayor of Durand, Wisconsin, for two years, and served eight years as county clerk and two years as district attorney. Biography John J. Morgan was born on June 12, 1846, in Wethersfield, New York. He graduated from what is now the University at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences in 1873 and from Albany Law School in 1884. John Tyler Morgan
John Tyler Morgan (June 20, 1824 – June 11, 1907) was an American politician was served as a brigadier general in the Confederate States Army during the American Civil War and later was elected for six terms as the U.S. Senator (1877–1907) from the state of Alabama. A prominent slave holder before the Civil War, he purportedly became the second Grand Dragon of the Ku Klux Klan in Alabama during the Reconstruction era. Morgan and fellow Klan member Edmund W. Pettus became the ringleaders of white supremacy in Alabama and did more than anyone else in the state to overthrow Reconstruction efforts in the wake of the Civil War. When President Ulysses S. Grant dispatched U.S. Attorney General Amos Akerman to prosecute the Klan under the Enforcement Acts, Morgan was arrested and jailed. John Hill Morgan (June 30, 1870 – July 16, 1945) was an American lawyer, politician, and art expert. Life Morgan was born on June 30, 1870, in Brooklyn, New York, the son of James Lancaster Morgan and Alice M. Hill. Morgan attended Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute and St. Paul's School in Concord, New Hampshire. He graduated from Yale College with a B.A. in 1893, and from Yale Law School with an LL.B. cum laude in 1896. While in Yale College, he was a member of Psi Upsilon and Wolf's Head and served as business manager of ''The'' ''Yale Record''. John Lloyd Morgan (13 February 1861 – 17 May 1944) was Liberal Party Member of Parliament (MP) for West Carmarthenshire from 1889 to 1910. Background He was the son of Rev. William Morgan, Professor of Theology at the Presbyterian College, Carmarthen. John Morgan (21 October 1892 – 4 December 1940) was a British Labour Party politician. Morgan was born in London and grew up in an orphanage. Upon leaving, he found work in Essex, as a labourer, then later became a farm manager in Yorkshire. This led on to farming in Sussex and then back in Essex, and Morgan travelled internationally to study agriculture. He gave the ''For Farmers Only'' series of lectures on BBC Radio in 1933, and under the pseudonym "John Sussex", he was the agricultural correspondent to the '' Daily Herald''. Morgan stood unsuccessfully as a Labour Party candidate in East Grinstead at the 1924 United Kingdom general election, both Maidstone and Rugby in 1929, and Bosworth in 1931, then lost at Leicester West in 1935 by only 87 votes. John Morgan (18 February 1742 – 27 June 1792) was a Welsh politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1769 to 1792. Morgan was the youngest son of Sir Thomas Morgan and his wife, Jane. Sir John Morgan, 4th Baronet (11 July 1710 – 1767), of Kinnersley Castle, Herefordshire, was a British Tory politician who sat in the House of Commons between 1734 and 1767. Morgan was the only son of Sir Thomas Morgan, 3rd Baronet. He succeeded to the baronetcy on the death of his father on 14 December 1716.
