Joseph Ambrose Sestak Jr. (born December 12, 1951) is an American politician and retired United States Department of the Navy, U.S. Navy officer. He represented in the United States House of Representatives, U.S. House of Representatives from 2007 to 2011 and was the Democratic nominee for the United States Senate in 2010 United States Senate election in Pennsylvania, 2010. A Vice admiral (United States), three-star vice admiral, he was the highest-ranking military official ever elected to the United States Congress at the time of his election. The 2010 United States Senate election in Pennsylvania took place on November 2, 2010, during the 2010 midterm elections. Joint Service Commendation Medal
The Commendation Medal is a mid-level United States military decoration presented for sustained acts of heroism or meritorious service. Each branch of the United States Armed Forces issues its own version of the Commendation Medal, with a fifth version existing for acts of joint military service performed under the Department of Defense. __NOTOC__ The Meritorious Service Medal (MSM) is a military award presented to members of the United States Armed Forces who distinguished themselves by outstanding meritorious achievement or service to the United States subsequent to January 16, 1969.
