Jean-Luc Joinel (born September 21, 1953, in Saint-Vincent-de-Cosse) is a retired French international rugby union player. He played as a Flanker for CA Brive. He earned his first cap with the French national team on 11 November 1977 against New Zealand at Toulouse. Saint-Vincent-de-Cosse (; Languedocien: ''Sent Vincenç de Còssa'') is a commune in the Dordogne department in Nouvelle-Aquitaine in southwestern France, on the Dordogne River. The Mediterranean Games is a multi-sport event organised by the International Committee of Mediterranean Games (CIJM). It is held every four years among athletes from countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea in Africa, Asia and Europe. The first Mediterranean Games were held in 1951 in Alexandria, Egypt, while the most recent games were held in 2022 in Oran, Algeria. Flanker is a position in the sport of rugby union. Each team of 15 players includes two flankers, who play in the Forwards (rugby union), forwards, and are generally classified as either List of rugby union terms#B, blindside or List of rugby union terms#O, openside flankers, numbers 6 and 7 respectively. The name comes from their position in a Scrum (rugby union), scrum in which they 'flank' each set of forwards.
