''Jawa Pos'' ( 'Java Post') is an Indonesian national daily newspaper based in Surabaya, East Java. ''Jawa Pos'' was launched by Suseno Tedjo or The Chung Shen on July 1, 1949. The parent company, "Jawa Pos Group", is owned by Indonesian media tycoon Dahlan Iskan. The newspaper's motto is (There's always something new!). Overview It is one of Indonesia's oldest newspapers. In 1982, when its circulation had declined to under 10,000 copies, the newspaper almost went bankrupt and its ownership changed to PT Grafiti Pers, the publisher of ''Tempo''. After the acquisition, the circulation of ''Jawa Pos'' increased and by the 1990s, circulation reached 350,000 copies. Dahlan Iskan
Dahlan Iskan (born August 17, 1951 in Magetan) is the former CEO of Indonesian newspaper publisher, Jawa Pos Group. He was the CEO of Indonesia's State Electricity Company, ( PLN) from December 23, 2009 to October, 2011. He was Indonesia's minister for State-owned enterprises in the period October 2011 to October 2014. Dahlan is known for his unorthodox, often personalised, approach to solving internal bureaucratic problems and inefficiencies within stated-owned enterprises (SOEs). Over time, he came to have been seen as a somewhat controversial figure. His style as a minister sometimes attracted criticism from members of the Indonesian parliament (MPs). Computer-to-plate (CTP) is an imaging technology used in modern printing processes. In this technology, an image created in a Desktop Publishing (DTP) application is output directly to a printing plate. This compares with the older technology, computer-to-film (CTF), where the computer file is output onto a photographic film. This film is then used to make a printing plate, in a similar manner to a contact proof in darkroom photography. Technology CTP methods differ according to the construction type of the imagesetter and the light source used to expose the plate surface. In terms of construction type there are three different kinds: internal drum, external drum and flat-bed imagesetters. The two main light sources used to expose the plate are ultraviolet light lamps and laser diodes. The wavelength and energy of the laser diodes depend on the type of plate that is used. A Mw 6.4 earthquake struck the island of Lombok on the morning of 29 July 2018 at a shallow depth of . Widespread damage was reported in the area, and authorities confirmed that 20 people were killed in the earthquake while hundreds were injured. The epicentre was located in Sembalun Subdistrict, East Lombok Regency. The earthquake was a foreshock to the larger 6.9 earthquake which struck the island a week later.
