Janakkala () is a municipality of Finland. Its administrative centre is in Turenki, which is often erroneously shown on maps as being "Janakkala". Janakkala is located along the Highway 3 ( E12) in the province of Southern Finland and is part of the Tavastia Proper region. To the south, Janakkala shares a boundary with Riihimäki, the Northern neighbour being Hämeenlinna. It is from Turenki to Hämeenlinna, to Tampere and to Helsinki. Ida Aalberg
Ida Aalberg (4 December 1857 – 17 January 1915) was the most notable and internationally known Finnish actress of her time. Biography Aalberg was born in , Janakkala. She was a member of the Theatre of Finland from 1874 to 1883 and later a regular visiting actress. She also performed on foreign scenes, in Scandinavia, Germany, Hungary and Russia among others. Although she never managed a breakthrough in a foreign language she remained respected and highly popular in Finland, even when spending much, or nearly all of her time abroad. A new theatre house that opened in 1902 led to the renaming of the Theatre of Finland as The Finnish National Theatre. A few years later Aalberg began to show an interest in directing and administration which lead to her appointment as director-actor (assistant manager) in 1909. She was not a success as a director. Turenki
Turenki is a population center in the Municipality of Janakkala, Finland, with a population of some 7500 people. It has been said that Turenki is translated from ''Turinge'', ''Thuring'' or ''Turängi''. It is among the largest population centers of Janakkala, along with Tervakoski. Turenki is located about 13 kilometers southeast of the city of Hämeenlinna. Hakoinen Castle
Hakoinen Castle (''Hakoisten linnavuori'' in Finnish) is the ruins of a fortification on a hill in Janakkala, Finland. Dated to the medieval period, the fortification was situated on a very steep-sided rock by Lake Kernaala (''Kernaalanjärvi'') in a manner reminiscent of the hill fort tradition. The top of the rock is above the water level of the lake. Today very little remains of the castle. Equally little is known about its origins. The name of the castle is not historical and was taken from the nearby Hakoinen mansion (''Haga gård'' in Swedish). The original name is not known, but it may have been "Häme Castle" (''Tavastehus'' in Swedish) which today is used for a later castle in the nearby town of Hämeenlinna. A source from 1625 calls Hakoinen as the "old Tauaste hus". "Tauestahus" Castle is first mentioned in sources in 1308. Puuhamaa () is an amusement park opened in 1984 in the village of Tervakoski, in the municipality of Janakkala, Finland. Finnish National Road 3
Finnish national road 3 ( fi, Valtatie 3 or '; sv, Riksväg 3) is a highway in Finland between Helsinki and Vaasa via Hämeenlinna and Tampere. The road is long and it is part of the European route E12. of the highway is motorway, connecting Helsinki to Tampere. North of Tampere, the road is mostly two-lane road, with a share of 2+1 road. The busiest point on Highway 3 is in Helsinki, north of the Ring I junction, where the average traffic volume is about 90,000 vehicles per day.
