Jamie Vardy
Jamie Richard Vardy (''né'' Gill; born 11 January 1987) is an English professional footballer who plays as a striker for club Leicester City. Regarded as one of the best strikers in the world, Vardy is known for his prolific goalscoring aided by his movement, explosive pace, clinical finishing and tactical proficiency. After being released by Sheffield Wednesday at the age of 16, Vardy began his senior career with Stocksbridge Park Steels, breaking into the first team in 2007 and spending three seasons there before joining Northern Premier League club FC Halifax Town in 2010. Scoring 25 goals in his debut season, he won the club's "Players' Player of the Year" award and then moved to Conference Premier club Fleetwood Town in August 2011 for an undisclosed fee. The 2019–20 Premier League was the 28th season of the Premier League, the top English professional football league, since its establishment in 1992, and the 121st season of top-flight English football overall. FWA Footballer Of The Year
The Football Writers' Association Footballer of the Year (often called the FWA Footballer of the Year, or in England simply the Footballer of the Year) is an annual award given to the player who is adjudged to have been the best of the season in English football. Bramall Lane
Bramall Lane is a football stadium in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England, which is the home of Sheffield United. The stadium was originally a cricket ground, built on a road named after the Bramall family of file and graver manufacturers. The Bramalls owned The Old White House, on the corner of Bramall Lane and Cherry Street, and the Sheaf House, now a pub, that still stands at the top of Bramall Lane. David Hirst (footballer)
David Eric Hirst (born 7 December 1967) is an English football coach and former professional footballer. As a player, he was a striker who after initially playing with Barnsley he notably spent eleven years with Sheffield Wednesday, during his time at Hillsborough he played Premier League football and played in both the 1993 FA Cup and League Cup final's. He scored 106 league goals in 294 appearances and continuously played in the first seven Premier League seasons, which included three years with Southampton before retiring through injury at the age of 32. He was capped three times by England, scoring 1 goal and also made appearances at England U21 and England B level. Since retiring, Hirst has worked at Sheffield Wednesday and Crystal Palace as an academy coach, he has also worked back with Wednesday as a host in their corporate hospitality suites. 1991 Football League Cup Final
The 1991 Football League Cup Final was a football match played on 21 April 1991 between Manchester United and Sheffield Wednesday. It was the first of two years that the competition was sponsored by Rumbelows. Despite the previous season's FA Cup winners, Manchester United, being favourites to lift the trophy, Second Division side Sheffield Wednesday won the match 1–0, the winning goal scored by John Sheridan, giving the Owls their first League Cup title in a season when they also won promotion back to the top flight. The match is regarded as one of the most memorable League Cup finals of all time. As of 2022, it is the last time a team from outside the top flight has won any major trophy. Hillsborough () is a suburb in north-west Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. The centre of the district is popularly thought to be 'Hillsborough Corner' where Langsett Road, Middlewood Road, Holme Lane and Bradfield Road all meet. The Hillsborough ward population at the 2011 Census was 18,605. History The name of the suburb comes from Hillsborough House built and named in 1779 in tribute to the Earl of Hillsborough who lived in Hillsborough, County Down. Approximately 42 people were killed in the immediate Hillsborough area in the Great Sheffield Flood of 1864 and there was much devastation.
