The Jamestown settlement in the Colony of Virginia was the first permanent English settlement in the Americas. It was located on the northeast bank of the James (Powhatan) River about southwest of the center of modern Williamsburg. Jamestown is a city in Cloud County, Kansas, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population of the city was 237. History Jamestown was founded in 1878, and was incorporated as a city in 1883. Jamestown is a town in Jackson Township, Boone County and Eel River Township, Hendricks County, Indiana, United States. The population was 958 at the 2010 census. History Jamestown was established in 1830, and was platted in 1832. The town was named for its founder, James Mattock.
