James Andrew Trehane Lake
James Andrew Trehane Lake (c. 1840 – 13 March 1876), generally referred to as J. A. T. Lake, was a businessman, lawyer and politician in the British colony of South Australia. History James was born in London to Henry Lake (1811–1878) and his wife Ann née Trehane (died 1885), and the older brother of George Hingston Lake (1847–1900). The family arrived in South Australia in 1853. e had, with his father and brother, an interest in a sheep station on the Eastern Plains near the Barrier Range, on which they worked for five years, but were forced to leave after a devastating flood. He studied law in England, serving his articles with (later Sir) Samuel Way, and though he had broken this service for ten weeks to help with the pastoral property, was admitted to the Bar in 1867, and immediately set up a practice of his own, later joined by F. There have been two baronetcies created for persons with the surname Lake, one in the Baronetage of Ireland and one in the Baronetage of Great Britain. As of 2014 one creation is extant. The Lake Baronetcy, of Carnow in the County of Wicklow, was created in the Baronetage of Ireland on 10 July 1661 for Edward Lake, Chancellor of the Diocese of Lincoln and Advocate-General of Ireland. The title became extinct on his death in 1674. The Lake Baronetcy, of Edmonton in the County of Middlesex, was created in the Baronetage of Great Britain on 17 October 1711 for Bibye Lake, Sub-Governor of the African Company. He was the great-nephew and heir of Sir Edward Lake of Carnow. For his services to Charles I, Sir Edward was given a warrant of a baronetcy in 1643 with a remainder to his heirs male, but the warrant was never sealed. James Paul Lake (born December 17, 1976) is an American football coach who is the assistant head coach for the Los Angeles Rams of the National Football League (NFL). He was most recently the head coach at the University of Washington, from 2020 to 2021. Lake has coached at both the National Football League (NFL) and college football levels, primarily overseeing defensive backs. Lake played college football as a strong safety at Eastern Washington from 1995–1998. James A. Lake (born August 10, 1941, Kearney, Nebraska) is an American evolutionary biologist and a Distinguished Professor of Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology and of Human Genetics at UCLA. Lake is best known for the New Animal Phylogeny and for the first three-dimensional structure of the ribosome. He has also made significant contributions to understanding genome evolution across all kingdoms of life, including discovering informational and operational genes, elucidating the complexity hypothesis for gene transfer, rooting the tree of life, and understanding the early transition from prokaryotic to eukaryotic life. James Lake is a lake in northeastern Ontario, Canada, located in the Temagami region along Highway 11. History Water levels of James Lake increased and decreased in the early 1900s. Northland Pyrite Mine
The Northland Pyrite Mine, also known as James Lake Mine, Rib Lake Mine, Harris Mine or simply Northland Mine, is an abandoned underground mine in Northeastern Ontario, Canada, located on the southwestern shore of James Lake in Best Township of Temagami. It was operated by the Northland Mining Company during the early 1900s with the construction of a shaft and many open-cuts north of the shaft. Minerals present at the mine include chalcopyrite, pyrite and pyrrhotite, deposited in Precambrian volcanic rock of the Canadian Shield. Lake James (Indiana)
Lake James is a natural lake located in the northeast corner of the state of Indiana in the United States. It is popular as a place for boating and fishing and has a wide variety of wildlife. As the state's fourth-largest natural lake, it has over of surface water, and consists of three basins. Its water quality is ranked among the best in Indiana lakes. The lake is the largest of a group of lakes known as the James Lake Chain. These lakes are located mostly in Steuben County, Indiana, but also extend into southern Michigan. During the 1700s the lake was part of a huge swamp that was the hunting grounds for the Potawatomi Indians. As European fur traders made wild game scarce, the Indians were persuaded to sell their land and move west. Lake James is a large reservoir in the mountains of Western North Carolina which straddles the border between Burke and McDowell Counties.
