James L. Papandrea
James L. Papandrea (born May 9, 1963) is an author, Catholic Church, Catholic theologian, historian, speaker, and singer/songwriter. He is currently Professor of Church History and Historical Theology at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois (on the campus of Northwestern University), and formerly taught at the Archdiocese of Chicago's Institute for Diaconal Studies. His many books have been translated into multiple languages, and he has a significant presence on YouTube, including his video series, "The Original Church." Papandrea is also one of the world's foremost scholars of Novatian of Rome. The Society of Biblical Literature (SBL), founded in 1880 as the Society of Biblical Literature and Exegesis, is an American-based learned society dedicated to the academic study of the Bible and related ancient literature. Its current stated mission is to "foster biblical scholarship". Membership is open to the public and consists of over 8,300 individuals from over 100 countries. As a scholarly organization, SBL has been a constituent society of the American Council of Learned Societies since 1929.
