Jacques Henri De Durfort De Duras
Jacques Henri de Durfort, Duke of Duras (9 October 1625 – 12 October 1704) was Marshal of France. Life Jacques Henri was the oldest son of Guy Aldonce de Durfort (1605–1665), marquis of Duras, count of Rozan and of Lorges, maréchal de camp and of Élisabeth de La Tour d'Auvergne, sister of Henri de La Tour d'Auvergne, better known as Turenne. His brother, Guy Aldonce de Durfort de Lorges, was also a Marshal of France. He served first under his uncle, Turenne, and under Condé ; he distinguished himself at Mergentheim, and Alerheim. In 1651, he followed Condé into rebellion, but came back into the service of the king in 1657, with the title of lieutenant-general. He played a major part in the conquest of Franche-Comté ; and was named by Louis XIV governor of that province and marshal in 1675. Marshal of France (french: Maréchal de France, plural ') is a French military distinction, rather than a military rank, that is awarded to generals for exceptional achievements. Jean-Baptiste de Durfort (28 January 1684 - Paris, 8 July 1770) was 3rd Duke of de Duras, Marshal of France and Pair de France. Biography Jean-Baptiste de Durfort is the second son of Jacques Henri de Durfort de Duras, duc de Duras, Marshal of France, and Marguerite-Felice de Levis-Ventadour. With the death of his older brother Jacques-Henri II in September 1697, he became 3rd Duke of Duras, Marquis de Blanquefort, Comte de Rauzan, Baron de Pujols, de Landrouet et, de Cypressac, Seigneur de Chitain, d'Urbize, de Cambert etc. . His father resigned in 1689 and died in 1704. On 10 June 1702, he took part in the unsuccessful surprise attack on Nijmegen as part of the War of the Spanish Succession. Armand-Charles de La Porte, Duc de La Meilleraye (1632 – 9 November 1713), was a French general, who was Grand Master and Captain General of Artillery. Biography The son of Charles de La Porte (called "Marshal de La Meilleraye") and nephew of Cardinal Richelieu, Armand-Charles was marquis de La Porte.
