Jacob Wilhelm Nordan
Jacob Wilhelm Nordan (23 February 1824 – 11 April 1892) was a Danish-born, Norwegian architect. During his career, he was one of the most prolific church architects in Norway. Biography Nordan was born in Copenhagen, Denmark and came to Norway as a child with his mother. He attended the Royal Drafting School (''Den Kongelige Tegneskole'') in Christiania (now Oslo), where Johannes Flintoe, Christian Heinrich Grosch and Johan Henrik Nebelong were among his teachers. From 1849 to 1852, Nordan worked under architect Johan Henrik Nebelong as assistant and building manager during the construction of Oscarshall. From 1852 to 1855, he studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen and received travel grants to Bavaria and Austria. In 1856, he established architectural office in Christiania, while he also taught at the Royal Drafting School. Fritzøehus
Fritzøehus is a private estate and palace located in Larvik, Norway. It is the largest privately owned estate in Norway. History The estate has traditionally been associated with various members of the Treschow (noble family), Treschow family. Fritzøehus was built for Michael Treschow (1814-1901) during the years 1863–1865. Michael Treschow was one of the country's most important industrialists in the mid-19th century. He owned Fritzøe Jernverk, an ironworks together with sawmills and sizable forest properties in Larvik. Fritzøehus was designed in Renaissance Revival architecture by architect Jacob Wilhelm Nordan (1824–1892). The manor house was expanded in 1885–1889 and 1897–1898. Grense Jakobselv
( Skolt Sami: Vue'rjemjokk sme, Vuorjánjohka fi, Vuoremijoki and russian: Гренсе Якобсэльв) is a small village in Sør-Varanger Municipality in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. It is located on the shore of the Barents Sea at the mouth of the Jakobselva river. It lies about by road east of the town of Kirkenes. The area was settled by Norwegians in 1851. Fræna is a former municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It was part of the region of Romsdal. The municipality was located on the Romsdal peninsula surrounding the Frænfjorden, the eastern shore of the Julsundet strait, and includes most of the Hustadvika area. It also included the now-abandoned Bjørnsund islands. The main village and administrative centre in Fræna was Elnesvågen with over 2,300 inhabitants. Grünerløkka is a borough of the city of Oslo, Norway. Grünerløkka became part of the city of Oslo (then Christiania) in 1858. Grünerløkka was traditionally a working class district; however, since the late 20th century the area has increasingly undergone gentrification. Although it is located in the East End, it is more expensive than other parts of the East End. Etymology The first element was derived from the surname ''Grüner''. The last element is the definite form of ''løkke'', meaning " paddock".
