Jānis Kalniņš (ice Hockey)
Jānis Kalniņš (born 13 December 1991) is a Latvian professional ice hockey goaltender who is currently an unrestricted free agent. He most recently played for Amur Khabarovsk of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). Playing career He formerly played with Dinamo Riga in the KHL before signing as a free agent to a multi-year contract with Jokerit on June 15, 2018. Kalniņš enjoyed three successful seasons with Jokerit leaving following the 2020–21 season to sign a one-year contract with reigning Swedish champions, Växjö Lakers of the SHL, on 28 June 2021. Dinamo Riga () is a professional ice hockey team based in Riga, Latvia. It most recently was a member of the Latvian Hockey Higher League. The club is affiliated with HK Zemgale/LBTU. The club was re-founded on 7 April 2008 as a successor of a Dinamo Riga (original), former team (also named "Dinamo Riga"), which was founded in 1946, but ceased to exist in 1995. Since being re-established, Dinamo Riga played their home games at the Arēna Rīga until 2022, which could accommodate 10,300 spectators. History The club was re-founded on 7 April 2008 and among the founders of the club were Guntis Ulmanis, Kirovs Lipmans, Mały Snopp, Juris Savickis, Viesturs Koziols and others.
