Jørgen Tandberg
Jørgen Johan Tandberg (3 June 1816–17 April 1884) was a Norwegian politician and priest. He served in the Parliament of Norway for one term and he also served as a bishop in the Church of Norway. Biography He was born in Tønsberg, Norway on 3 June 1816. He finished his secondary education in 1833 and graduated with the cand.theol. degree in 1838. He was a teacher in Oslo, Christiania at the Christiania Borgerskole from 1840 until 1843. He then became a school headmaster in Halden, Fredrikshald at the Fredrikshald Borgerskole. In 1848, he moved to Moss, Norway, Moss to be the headmaster at the Borgerskole in Moss. Later that same year, he was appointed as a curate in Haus, Norway, Hougs, a parish in the Diocese of Bjørgvin, Diocese of Bergen. He was elected to the Parliament of Norway in 1857, representing the constituency of Hordaland, Søndre Bergenhus Amt for two years. The Church of Norway (, , , ) is an Lutheranism, evangelical Lutheran denomination of Protestant Christianity and by far the largest Christian church in Norway. The Diocese of Bjørgvin () is one of the 11 dioceses that make up the Church of Norway. It includes all of the churches located in the county of Vestland in Western Norway, and those outside of Norway in the Seamen's Church. The cathedral city is Bergen, Norway's second largest city. Bergen Cathedral, formerly the Church of Saint Olaf, serves as the seat of the presiding Bishop. The Bishop since 2023 has been Ragnhild Jepsen. Bishop
A bishop is an ordained member of the clergy who is entrusted with a position of Episcopal polity, authority and oversight in a religious institution. In Christianity, bishops are normally responsible for the governance and administration of dioceses. The role or office of the bishop is called episcopacy or the episcopate. Jens Frølich Tandberg
Jens Frølich Tandberg (May 13, 1852 – March 21, 1922) was the bishop of Oslo from 1912 to 1922. Tandberg was born in Hausvik, Norway. He was the son of Jørgen Tandberg, who served as the bishop of the Diocese of Kristiansand from 1882 to 1884. Tandberg received his theology degree ('' cand.theol.'') in 1875. He served in various church positions, including catechist in Porsgrunn from 1883 to 1886, parish priest in Røyken from 1898 to 1903, vicar at Saint Peter's Church (now Sofienberg Church) from 1903 to 1911, and dean and later bishop of Christiania (now Oslo). Tandberg was considered moderately conservative. He headed the Norwegian School of Theology's governing board and stood on the conservative side in the church struggle between liberals and the so-called positive theologians in the early 1900s. Østfold
Østfold () is a county in Eastern Norway, which from 1 January 2020 to 31 December 2023 was part of Viken. Østfold borders Akershus and southwestern Sweden (Västra Götaland County and Värmland), while Buskerud and Vestfold are on the other side of Oslofjord. The county's administrative seat is Sarpsborg. The county controversially became part of the newly established Viken County on 1 January 2020. Ordination is the process by which individuals are consecrated, that is, set apart and elevated from the laity class to the clergy, who are thus then authorized (usually by the denominational hierarchy composed of other clergy) to perform various religious rites and ceremonies. Kristiansand Cathedral
Kristiansand Cathedral () is a cathedral of the Church of Norway in Kristiansand Municipality in Agder county, Norway. It is located in the Kvadraturen (Kristiansand), Kvadraturen area in the central part of the Kristiansand (town), city of Kristiansand. It is the church for the Kristiansand domkirken parish which is the seat of the Kristiansand domprosti (arch-deanery) in the Diocese of Agder og Telemark.
