Jörn Lenz
Jörn Lenz (born 12 April 1969) is a German former professional association football, footballer who played as a defender. Lenz had four different spells with BFC Dynamo during his professional playing career and has continued to serve as part of the club's backroom staff since retiring in 2008. Lenz played a total of 374 matches for BFC Dynamo between 1988 and 2008. He made two appearances for BFC Dynamo in the 1989-90 European Cup Winners' Cup. Career Early career Lenz was born in Warnemünde. He began playing football for the youth teams of enterprise sports community BSG Schiffahrt/Hafen Rostock in Rostock. He was admitted into a Children and Youth Sports School (KJS) in 1981 and then taken over by Football club (East Germany), football club FC Hansa Rostock. BFC Dynamo
Berliner Fussball Club Dynamo e. V., commonly abbreviated to BFC Dynamo () or BFC (), alternatively sometimes called Dynamo Berlin, is a German football club based in the locality of Alt-Hohenschönhausen of the borough of Lichtenberg of Berlin. The team competes in the Regionalliga Nordost, the fourth tier of German football. BFC Dynamo was founded in East Germany in 1966 from the football department of sports club SC Dynamo Berlin. BFC Dynamo established itself as a top-team in the DDR-Oberliga in the mid-1970s. Supported by extensive youth work, BFC Dynamo eventually became one of the most successful clubs in East German football. DDR-Liga
The DDR-Liga (English: GDR League or ''East German League'') was, prior to German reunification in 1990, the second level of football competition in the DDR (Deutsche Demokratische Republik or German Democratic Republic, commonly East Germany), being roughly equivalent to the 2. Bundesliga in West Germany. Overview 1950-1955 The league was established with two divisions of ten teams each in 1950 as the level of play below the DDR-Oberliga, and as such was the second tier of the East German football league system. It remained the second tier in various configurations throughout its existence until it was disbanded in 1991. The champion of each division was directly promoted to the Oberliga. The Valur men's football team, commonly known as Valur (, ), is the men's football department of the Knattspyrnufélagið Valur multi-sport club. The 1989–90 season of the European Cup Winners' Cup was won for the only time by Sampdoria in the final against Anderlecht, 2–0 at Nya Ullevi in Gothenburg, on 9 May 1990. The DFV-Supercup (also known as ''Pokal des Deutsches Sportecho, Deutschen Sportechos'') was the super cup of East German football, played between the winners of the DDR-Oberliga and the FDGB-Pokal. History It was originally planned to start in 1988, but was postponed as BFC Dynamo had won Double (association football), both competitions. An edition was played in 1989, with the Cup Winners BFC Dynamo beating Dynamo Dresden 4–1. The competition was not played in 1990 with German reunification underway, and an all-German Deutschland Cup (football), Deutschland Cup was played instead.
