Joerg Peninsula
Joerg Peninsula () is a rugged, mountainous peninsula, long in a northeast–southwest direction and from wide, lying between Trail Inlet and Solberg Inlet on the Bowman Coast of Graham Land, Antarctica. Its tip is indented by Hondius Inlet. The peninsula lies in the area explored from the air by Sir Hubert Wilkins in 1928 and Lincoln Ellsworth in 1935, and its south coast was mapped by W.L.G. Joerg from air photographs taken by Ellsworth. It was further mapped and photographed from the air by the United States Antarctic Service in 1940, and was surveyed by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey in 1947. The peninsula was named by the UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee after W.L.G. Joerg (1885–1952), who was an American geographer, polar cartographer, and archivist, and who made important contributions to Antarctic cartography, nomenclature and history. Jörgen is a village in the municipality of Tieschen in the ''Bezirk'' of Südoststeiermark in the Federal State of Styria in Austria. Its population was 159 in 2016. Jörgen is known for its fine white wines. Next to the more common white wines, it also produces Uhudler wines in small quantities. Uhudler is a unique wine from Austria, which originates in the Burgenland region. In Jörgen the white version may often be found, whereas is in Burgenland, its appearance is often a rosé colour. It has intense flavours of strawberry and black currants, a characteristic taste often called "foxy" in wine parlance. Jörg Hubert Meuthen (; born 29 June 1961) is a German economist, academic and politician who was a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for Germany from 2017 until 2024. He was the frontrunner for the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party at the 2016 Baden-Württemberg state election and was a Member of Parliament and parliamentary leader from March 2016. Jörg Bergmeister (born 13 February 1976 in Leverkusen) is a former racing driver from Germany and an ambassador of Porsche. His late father, Willi Bergmeister, owned a workshop and dealership where Michael Schumacher learned his trade as a car mechanic in the 1980s. Since 1996, Jörg has raced in the Porsche Carrera Cup. In 2006 he won the Grand-American Rolex Series Championship. He also won the 2003 24 Hours of Daytona overall in a Porsche 911 GT3-RS. His most recent achievement is 1st place at the 24 Hours of Daytona in the GT Class with TRG. He also won the Porsche Supercup in 2001, and the German Cup in 2000. Jörg Andreas Kachelmann (born 15 July 1958 in Lörrach, Germany) is a Swiss presenter, journalist and entrepreneur in the meteorological field. Early life and education Jörg Kachelmann spent his youth in Schaffhausen. His childhood ambition was to become a meteorologist and record the weather.
